Official February 11th ACT Test Thread

I read over Cracking the ACT and I raised my math score form a 22 to a 28...yay :)

I'm not feeling so stressed about this because I know it doesn't have to matter. There'll be more test dates. (junior here) And it's not like the SAT where if you screw up once it stays on your record for all to see.

Right, the point of this thread was to share goals and tips...but I dare not state a goal. Those never work.

But isn't the "goal" always to get a perfect score? (This is NOT me stating my goal)

Who's going to say..."well, I've answered enough questions to get a 30. I've met my goal! I'm going to stop now."

I think my tips are the same as everyone else's...though someone suggested NOT to read the Reading passages, and I disagree. I think it helps to read them, and read them WELL, so when you are at the multiple choice part you don't have to keep referring back to the passage.

Aiming for: 26+
What I used to prepare: I'm cramming tonight from the ACT Practice test included with the registration
Advice: None? I haven't taken it yet. Guess if you run out of time!

My son is having a giant spasm over the Science Reasoning test. He initially did well in practice tests prior to the December test, but then took the test and got a 23 on Science. He was mortified. Since then, he has not done well in any practice tests.

Any last minute advice? He is a slow reader, which doesn't help matters. He has been doing the graph/'chart questions first, going to the question first and then looking for it in the passage...but it doesn't seem to help at all.

Any suggestions are welcome!!!! Thanks!!!!

oh man, this is rough. I just turned my ankle playing basketball tonight so I'm going to be in a lot of pain taking this test tomorrow, and its going to take a good while for me to take my seat.

I have the worst luck with this stuff, I always seem to injure myself or do something stupid right before I have something big to do.

"Good night and good luck!"

I took another practice test last night, and my math section was a 30. I was excited. The math today seemed fairly decent, except for question about the circle that moved 2 units down...that confused me.

well it snowed here, and we still had the ACT's but I'm glad, because I'm doing some important college stuff the next two weeks so I wouldn't be able to come back out.

The math this time around was pretty difficult...all in all I had trouble with time today, as 3 of the 4 sections were rushed on my part.

I had trouble with time as well on the science section (surprisingly). However, I'm lucky that the last science passage was about cell membranes, as I didn't even need to read anything to ace all those questions due to AP bio.

what was the answer to the last question on the math section? and what did anyone get for the restriction enzymes passage for the question about one enzyme cutting 5 bases away and one 15 away? I was confused.

How long till we get our scores?

the site says that scores will start to be available on Febuary 21st

does anyone remember the answer to the question from the first reading passage about what the author was referring to with the word "they". The choices were like, "people who think they know everything", "other students", "admissions officials", and some other stuff.

people who think they know everything

-cos^2 a+cos a

did anyone take the act test today and in october? cause i thought todays was way easier!

goal- 35

last time- 32

this time guesstimate- 33

i thought this test was really easy. i was rushed a little on the reading. math took me about 50 minutes. english was easy, as usual. the essay was easy to BS also

I just got back from taking it...anybody want to set up an aim chat?

yeah lets get on AIM Chat...... whats your s/n??

ok, I think I set it up...Just invite yourself to the chatroom: CCACT
