Official February 2012 ACT Discussion Thread

The answer was indeed “One rail to the other”. Other is singular, so you need a singular word to parallel “other”.

My predictions:
English: -0~-5
Math: -2~-6
Reading: -3~-8
Science: -7~-15

Equates to:
English: 30~36
Math: 29~35
Reading: 29~35
Science: 22~26
Composite: 27.5~33

I know, a huge range. For math, there’s only two questions I know I got wrong, but I have no idea as far as writing and English. The English section was pretty easy - it seemed the answer was clear with every question. With math I had to rush because although the problems weren’t that hard, I had to rely on a lot of computation to answer them. In my practice tests, I’ve almost always run out of time in the reading section, so for this one I tried speed-reading (to the best of my abilities) through the reading section, and to my big surprise, most answers were clear, and I had time to re-read sections for the answers that weren’t. Thankfully all but one were pretty easy. Almost right off the bat science killed me. The first passage was easy, but the second passage was very difficult. I learned very little in Biology, and didn’t so much as remember the characteristics of dominant and recessive genes. Each section thereafter was pretty difficult, and I ended up making educated guesses on several problems, and flat-out guessing on seven more.

I really wish I’d been pushed early on to take this test. I took it for the first time at the end of my Junior year, bombed it with a 22, then took it again last September getting a 25. Until about a month ago, I didn’t think there was a point to taking it again, as colleges around here have pretty low admission standards, but I was convinced to take it again because of some college-offered scholarships. Hopefully I got a high enough score (27~30 or 1200~1320) in either this ACT or the January SAT, because I don’t think I have another shot at this.

@ugotserved i didn’t think about that when i posted it lol. apparently no one else posts credentials so now i feel bad, but i’m not going to go back and delete all my posts

im worst in reading, this time i surprisingly found that SS and NS (which im better at than other two and i did them first) are so easy that i finished them in 15 minutes, but next two are so confusing that even with 20 minutes i couldnt finish :frowning:
also made several stupid mistakes in english :frowning: and their curves seem tough this time while math and science i didnt make mistake so far but their curves seem should be good ■■■…

what day will scores come out??

February 27th according to [ACT, Inc. : A Student Site for ACT Test Takers](<a href=“The ACT Test for Students | ACT”>http://www.actstudent.org/)

Remember that if you took the ACT with writing, you scores probably won’t be ready for 4 weeks.
"After you test, you can check to see if your scores are available online. Multiple-choice scores from this test date will be first posted online beginning February 27 through April 6, 2012.

If your scores are not available on the first date listed above, plan to check back weekly up through the last date listed. Scores are processed and added each week, usually each Wednesday and Friday. Normally, all scores are reported by 8 weeks after the test date. (See examples of why some scores take longer.) There is no option for speeding the processing of scores.

If you take the ACT Plus Writing, your Writing scores will be posted as soon as they are ready, normally about 2 weeks after your multiple-choice scores. Your scores cannot be reported until after your Writing scores have been added.

Score reports are usually reported within 3 to 8 weeks after the test date."
-directly from the ACT website

When I took the Sept 2011 ACT, I signed up for the ACT+writing. It took about two weeks to get my ACT scores back, and another week or two to get my writing scores back. I’d imagine they score by test center, meaning whatever test center they decide to score first will get the results back first. Probably also depends largely on how many people take the test at each test date. I could be wrong though.

In your reply you said that you got your multiple choice scores back and then later got your essay score. This was my first time taking the ACTs but I saw on the website, which I quoted in the post before yours, that the ACT scores cannot be posted until after the writing section has been scored. Any thoughts on this/was it different for you?

No, scores WILL be posted at the same time as everyone else. It’s just that you can’t mail out score REPORTS (the official documents the ACT sends to colleges) until the essay is graded. You’ll get your mult-choice scores early. And last time, I got my writing scores at the same time as my mult-choice as SOON as they were available. The ACT is usually good with fast scoring.

@BCeagles303:
Perhaps I am mis-remembering. It may have been that I got all of my scores after two weeks, but just thought I got my writing score later because in my mind, it would take longer for the essay scores to be posted than the multiple choice scores.

Multiple choice are more important than writing to me, but I STILL DONT WANNA WAIT mehhh

Haha. I already re-registered for the April ACT.
I’m positive I’ll get a better score. Like 100% positive.

^Dang that’s crazy! I should probably do the same though…

This is going to be the first and last time I’m taking any high standardized test.

*high school. Although it would be somewhat humorous taking the ACT and ending up with a higher score…

Wait. Nevermind. No idea why I said humorous. Today’s not my day

What time on Feb 27 will scores be posted???
