Major weakness: GPA
Why you think you were accepted: SAT above median, maybe being oos helps in terms of finances for the university, applied very early (the day the app became available). I believe this is a big advantage, especially for borderline applicants. There is a much greater chance that an admissions rep will take a more holistic view of your application if i is in early. they will read your essay (unlikely later on when things get busy in admissions). I also think visiting the campus was important. I am sure the college makes a note of students who came for a visit. Finally, during our visit, our son met an admissions rep and emailed with her during the application period. I think this helped him. By establishing contact with someone in admissions he was able to have a contact in admissions he could reach out to whenever he had a question. she helped him by encouraging him to send in any additional info i.e. awards etc to include in his application folder.

on a side note. i feel terrible for those who did not get in and really wanted to. I wish everyone the best of luck wherever they go!
