Official Fordham Early Action Class of 2015 Results

I highly doubt the admissions office would have looked negatively upon your circumstances and PTSD, especially as a reason for rejecting you! I’m sure that that information IN NO WAY hurt your application.

My guess is that the admissions office thought that you did not do enough to prove to them–beyond your story–that you had the smarts and ambition that did not reveal itself in your grades. You may have explained it to them, but they did not see evidence of it in the rest of your application. If you were deferred*, and you believe in your writing so much, why don’t you send them a writing sample? If you still want to get in, a submission of your writing talent, along with a letter indicating your wish to get accepted, might turn the tables in your favor. Don’t give up just because you were deferred!

*Correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Fordham defer all early action students? Or are some deferred while others are rejected? I honestly cannot remember. If you were outright rejected, it might help to add a writing sample to your other applications, which can be sent after the official deadline is due (but it varies from school to school). Good luck, and I hope everything works out!

I am so excited  fordham is my top choice for school and i was getting nervous when i didn’t receive anything. it turns out my letter came last saturday and my parents hid it in the christmas tree to see how observant i was…i had been stalking the mail carrier though

I actually don’t know. They didn’t mention in the letter if I could reapply as a regular decision… thank you for your words. I’ve been disheartened over this.

adispalatro: I’d kill my parents if they ever did that! haha

zmintz: You should call admissions and double check, but it is my understanding that if you are deferred you are automatically put in the RD pool and if you are rejected then that is the final decision for this year and you cannot reapply RD. Don’t lose heart. You sould seek out other colleges you love (there are so many great schools out there). As a general rule, nobody should put all their hopes into one place - between the admission and financial aid process, almost no school can be considered a sure thing. If you have a great freshman year at another school and still feel Fordham is the best fit, you can reapply as a transfer. Life is not always a straight path, but I hope things work out wherever you end up.

i was deffered from fordham early action to regular decision. What are my chances of getting in?

ilovenewyork15: i was ****ed when i found out that my letter came and that they hid it haha it’s funny now but it was horrible then
