Official Fordham University Spring 2013 Transfer Thread

Anyone else applying for spring 2013 transfer? Sent in your application yet? Heard back? Have any idea regarding your chance of getting in?

Hi Ethan,

I applied well before the deadline. But after reading older threads here on CC, Fordham clearly waits until the very last second to extend decisions.

As for my own chances, I am applying as a 2nd semester sophomore with a 3.9 GPA but with a terrible 2.88 high school GPA. Just crossing my fingers!

i applied for spring transfer to fordham but i’m a first semester freshman so i’m worried i won’t hear back until after my semester grades are out…which means i’ll have to withdraw from my school past the withdrawal deadline…anyone know more about this?

I am in the same exact position as you! Only difference is that if I don’t transfer to Fordham then I am transferring to the University of Miami where my deposit has already been placed. The last day to withdrawal the deposit is 11/30.
I sent in my application 9/24 and still haven’t heard back. Apparently my school never sent over my letter of good standing and it didn’t appear as missing in the Fordham portal. I found this out in November and my letter has finally been processed as of 11/13. So even though it was there since 9/24 they couldn’t start application review until that got there. Point is you should call to make sure EVERYTHING is there.
Also, my application is currently “in review” how long does this process take? Will I find out before 11/30? If they accept me after 11/30 do you think Miami will allow me to withdrawal my tuition deposit? Can Fordham maybe email them so this situation is treated like someone who has been waitlisted? What I mean by waitlist is that you still place a tuition and if the waitlist school accepts you then you can still withdrawal from the school you were originally going to go to. Meh. Help me too!

Accepted yesterday to Rose Hill :slight_smile: Can’t view my financial aid online, log-in isn’t working- UGH!

Congrats ohmymarc! Just got accepted to Rose Hill today too!
I’m also having problems with the log in. I was trying to create an account on my.fordham.edu where it says “first time users”, but it can’t find my information in the system. I need to get my account created ASAP so I can submit my deposit by tomorrow! Did you figure out how to log in?

Hey vasilios711 I am in the exact same position as you! Tried to pay my enrollment deposit online through my.fordham.edu and could not access the system. Did you figure anything out?

Unfortunately I did not. I called the IT help desk about an hour after receiving my admission email to see if they could fix the problem. The guy I spoke to simply could not find me in the system, the same problem the log in message stated, and so I thought it might just be a timing issue and I would have to wait a couple hours before the log in would work. After about 9 hours, around 10:00pm, I retried logging in to no avail. This is becoming increasingly frustrating bc the email stated that the deposit must be submitted by Saturday, December 1st which is technically today! Their offices are closed so I can’t call the IT help desk again, and so it seems I’ll just have to find a way to mail the form with the deposit tomorrow (Saturday).

@ vasilios711

How did you find out and is there anyway to find out on the portal? Additionally, you said the deposit is due 12/1. Does this mean that anyone who has not already been accepted has no chance since it is past the tuition deadline? Oh, and one more question! When did you apply?

Thanks(:

@Shortyrock

I received an offer of admission by email yesterday at 1:30pm. I have no clue if you can find out on the portal since I have never accessed it and I was not provided with an accessIT ID or password to access it. It sounds like you must have already created an account on My Fordham so Im guessing they sent you an accessIT ID and password?
About the deposit, it doesn’t make sense that it must be submitted by today, December 1st, because I just received my offer of admission yesterday and their offices are closed today! I feel that the hurricane delayed the admission decision emails, and they forgot to extend the deposit date. This is most likely just a mistake on the admissions office’s part and those who have not been accepted yet should not worry about the deadline. I’ll call the admissions office on Monday. I submitted my application on October 5, 2012. Hope this helps!

Thank you for your quick reply! I submitted my application 9/24/12 but if you read my other reply my college did not send over the “letter of good standing” until 11/13/12. This is very frustrating as Fordham, when I called, and their portal, both stated that my application was 100% complete. Regardless, now I guess it is just a waiting game. Do they tell you if you were rejected by the way and is there a set date for all notifications?

Also just a side note… I applied as a first semester freshman and now I may not have a final transcript to send out once this semester is completed. I had mono earlier in the year and now I am on day 7 in the hospital with meningitis. As a result, I will probably take a medical withdrawal. They won’t accept me and then take it back because of this right? :frowning:

As for the accessIT, it was sent to me via email when I first applied. Check your email because it should be there. You can view financial packages once you login.

@Shortyrock

I don’t know if they send out rejections or if there is a set date for all notifications. I’m really sorry to hear about your health and I hope you get better soon and that it does not hinder your application!
I actually didn’t receive an email from Fordham when I first applied so I never got the ID and password. However, after emailing the admissions yesterday, I received an email today stating that the deposit deadline will be extended for me and the log-in issue will be looked into Monday morning.

@vasilios711

I will call tomorrow and see what is up and let everyone here know too. Thank you!
By the way, do you plan on going for sure? Financial aid is limited for transfers and housing is not guaranteed. I am asking because I think I will get in since I got in last year with almost a full ride

Okay great! Hopefully you find everything you need there(:

Everyone should be notified by January 1, 2013.

@Shortyrock

Did you manage to view your financial aid award? All of my documents are complete but I can’t view the award

@Vasilios711
I haven’t gotten my decision back yet but I should this week.
When I got in back in high school I was able to view the awards. Make sure you have 2013 term selected. Also, I think there was like a separate portal for finaid where you had to login using your finaid number thing. Sorry I can’t really remember :confused: When I get my decision (which should be accepted) this week I will let you know. Normally it is posted later if you get any aid. Contact their office.
By the way…
Where do you plan on living lol?

Oh and to everyone on here who has gotten in…
What graduating class are you and where do you plan on living?
Also, can we all make a support group on Facebook or something? I’ve added Fordham and Fordham class of 2016 but they are not as active as I would like.

@Shortyrock

Ok yea I’m planning on calling the financial aid office tomorrow to see what’s up. I was accepted as a resident student and the email I received stated that transfer students will most likely be placed in either a triple room in one of the on-campus residence halls or in an off-campus apartment style building. I prefer a single room so I’m hoping for the apartment building.

@Vasilios711

Yeah, that sounds like a good plan. Best of luck! Transfer finaid is limited though :confused: Let me know how it goes please.

REALLY?! NO WAY!!! So wait, when you did common app you requested to live on campus, correct? WOOH! That is really weird that they have housing!!! I am so excited by this!!! So you are GUARANTEED housing then? Did they specify if the on campus would be freshman dorms or not?

*I am freaking out because that was my biggest concern. Also, when I got in for fall 2012 they didn’t have housing and their housing is always extremely limited.

@Shortyrock

Yea haha I am guaranteed housing, but they did not specify if the on-campus residence halls would be freshman dorms.
My biggest concern is financial aid because that is the determining factor for me attending Fordham! I also applied and was accepted to NYU but they, being NYU, barely gave me anything. I called the financial aid office at Fordham and I should know what I got by tomorrow… fingers crossed
