Hey guys! Post here for any questions, chances, or concerns if you have applied regular to Georgia Tech.

We will appreciate if anyone can reply our question.

My son applied regular to GT late last year. His major is CS. After we found out so many well qualified applicants been deferred, we now think we may not have good chance to be admitted for RD when GT already accepted 5000 students in EA.

Our question is if GT will give my son an alternative major option in science or engineering college when CS is full and my son’s score still qualified for those other major ? OR GT will just deny/waitlist ? We are OOS in metro NY area. Thanks!

GA tech does not consider major in admissions

Thanks ! It is good to know. We used to think certain departments have higher admittance requirement.

Good luck to your son

Does anyone if mid-year grades are considered for RD applicants? The website says it is for deferred but doesn’t say anything about RD.

Ugh, I’m dying here. Does anyone have an ETA on the notify date?

@gwoodad

If you don’t mind, could you post your son’s stats here. Was he OOS?

This is hearsay, but my d’s friend who is waiting said April 1.

It is March 15.

Hey guys! I was wondering if anyone has seen the fourth tab of “campus services” on buzzport yet. There are only two weeks left! Ahh! I was reading the other threads and many students were noting the fact that if you got the fourth tab that meant that you were accepted.

I don’t have it :(

The infamous fourth tab usually does not appear until the day before or the morning of decision day.

Oh Okay! Thank you! I was ready to start freaking out. I also had a question about the financial aid. Has anyone received notification that they are required to send tax forms because of a process called “verification”??

You’re welcome. This is our second time through this. My daughter was deferred from early decision. As far as financial aid, check your buzzport account. It will tell you what is needed.

Do you guys know if GA Tech is a highly number based school? I mean my stats are bit low for GA Tech due to some personal reasons (which I explained on the application) but I am like an Intel semifinalist, siemens regional fiinalist, AIME qualifier; I actually got in the high 130’s on the AMC 10. Also, are mid-term grades considered for regular applications?

Sorry, I am going to edit the above post (some reason I can’t edit above):

Hey, can you guys tell me what my chances are for GA tech: Do you guys know if GA Tech is a highly number based school? I mean my stats are bit low (below average) for Ga Tech due to some personal circumstances (which I explained on the application) but I am like an Intel semifinalist, siemens regional fiinalist, AIME qualifier - actually got in the high 130’s on the AMC 10 and about 110 on the AMC 12 etc… What do you think my chances are? To be more specific, I got a 32 on the ACT (with a 35 on Math and 33 on Reading) and pretty much all A/A- in my math/sci classes but did poorly in foreign language (including a B- junior year), humanities (quite a few B+'s) etc… I have also interned at a software company and won medals in chess and tennis competitions. As for SAT II’s I got a 800 on Math II and 760 on chem. I got a rec from my math teacher and supplement from a research mentor. Thanks!

Hey Aggs, from the early decision acceptances at my school and the past acceptances at Georgia Tech in my school, I don’t think Georgia Tech is as selective as it seems.
I think you have an extremely high chance of being accepted. Getting 130+ on AMC 10 is proof that you are better than majority of the incoming Tech students already.

Also, Aggs, your stats are already all above the average. I think I would be amazed if you get rejected.
But then we all don’t know ^^. I’m hoping I don’t get rejected this week too ~~
36 math, 35 English. Let’s see what happens
**I will be shocked if u get rejected btw. So :P

@AccCreate Thanks for your compliments! You seem qualified as well, so hopefully we both get in! But, the problems with me is that my ACT english score was low in that I got a 29 that is why I say I have below avg. stats. GA tech only considers eng, eng/wri. and math scores. Although my writing score is a 10/12, my 29 on eng pulled down my eng/wri down to a 29 as well. So, that is my BIG weakness. Unfortunately, I don’t think GA tech considers individual writing score, but we will see. We can chat with all other on here on 3/14 just to get our anxiousness out. Hopefully, we will see that 4th tab. Good luck!

I’m dying to find out. :c

@tookie411 when will your daughter hear about her decision? March 15 like the RD kids?
