Official Georgetown transfer thread fall 2013

attempted to make two coherent essays from a blend of my commonapp essays and supplements. Can’t say the G-town versions read as well as the originals…ah well…submission deadline fell on hell week right before spring break, 7 exams and 3 papers, just glad I survived and was able to submit on time.

I was hesitant where to apply between Penn and SFS, being an international relations major. I was more inclined towards SFS not only because of its excellent IR program, but also due to the flexibility of the essay topics the application offered… as I too were/am snowed under midterms/finals and essays and whatnot, so xD

I applied to the College. Majoring in Government.

yagiboonjota - why not apply to both? no need to choose between Penn and G-town as an applicant…I’ve got applications out at 11 schools

I dunno, amidst 30 pages of essays that I have to finish in two weeks at the school I am attending right now, I thought that it would be wise to apply only to a school that I was really intimate towards. I am happy with my decision actually, since I put all of my concentration onto those two essays for GT than disperse them to less interested schools. And if the worst happens, I have shots for next spring and fall as a Junior, so xD xD xD

Good for you! I wish you good luck sir/miss

Georgetown doesn’t have a portal to check your status. If you get accepted you will get an email. If not, then you have to wait until the end of may for a rejection letter by mail. If you have extenuating circumstances you can call and they might tell you over the phone. I’ve heard of people calling because they are approaching deadlines for notifying other schools they have been accepted to.

If you don’t hear anything by June 1st you can call and they will read you the decision over the phone.

FYI - I applied last year and didn’t get it…

Goddamnit the tension is killing me. Thank god we have this forum to vent at least some of our anxieties.

Applied to MSB. I submitted my app at 11:58 PM on March 1st. After submitting I realized the deadline was set to PST (I’m on EST.) Nearly gave myself a heart attack though. Where are you guys transferring from?

I am from one of the UCs. Came for the scholarship, and immediately regretted not going to the east coast where my major is stronger.

You’re an International Relations major? Did you apply to Tufts? Its IR program is reputable.

Nah. I was really attached to GT’s SFS. Its International Politics major focuses on the specific aspects of my interests, so GT was the only school I gave a shot at for Fall transfer.

Looks like 1st decisions won’t be out until early May at best…loooooong wait ahead

Does Georgetown require us to send in a midterm report?

nope

10char

What are your stats yolocho?

Did anyone else forget to include your reasons for transferring in the first essay? I can’t believe I missed an entire portion of the essay. I was really stressed out when I wrote the essay, since I had an essay due and two mid-terms coming up. I really doubt I have any chance of getting in at this point.

Has anyone heard from admissions about an interview?

@transferAP

Not yet.

@SAT100

Cheer up! If the essay represented who you are and what your ambition is, I am sure the admissions officers will understand.

@yogiboonjoota

I am also currently at a UC school. If you don’t mind sharing, what UC are you at? Also, most people applying are coming from semester systems but I think we might have to send in our winter quarter grades (assuming your not at UCB), not sure though
