@Gtown I think there might be one or two more waves. There were last year.

@yagi lol

What other schools are you guys waiting to hear from?

I’m still waiting on Penn-Wharton. I’m so nervous!

So this is the theory that my mom and I have come up with regarding Georgetown transfer admissions.

First, for those of you who have called about early reads, you probably have noticed this. I believe that unlike a lot of schools where admissions officers (even for transfers) are done by geography, at georgetown it seems as if it is done by potential major. When I called to request an early read, the woman did not ask me where I lived, but what major I had applied to. So different majors probably hear at different times, which seemed like it was the case in past years.

Second, Georgetown probably has a set number of transfers they can take assuming no one leaves and they have a normal sized freshmen class. so the first wave of admits is probably based on that number. then as freshmen and sophomores who are transferring start to withdraw, they can send out a second wave of admits based off of those numbers. and then they have the waitlist because obviously not every transfer applicant they admit will attend. this is just a theory but it seems to make sense with the timing of the admits of the past few years.

on a different note, for those worried about not hearing a response from admissions officers, i have sent two emails. the first was sent in the morning on a wednesday and i did not hear back until the afternoon on thursday. so don’t worry. they get a lot of emails a day, and many are urgent. also, be glad they’re not at their computer because it probably means they’re discussing our applications. if it is an urgent question, mark it high priority.

i sent in a request for an early read, though my reasons are a bit non-traditional. i’m not being pressured by a school to make a deposit (the only other place i applied was UPenn and they don’t release decisions until next week). but i am staying in the city of my school over the summer to work on campus and intern on the Hill. my job requires me to be a student at my current school, so i kind of need to know soon whether or not i need to find a new job. so hopefully i can get my early read because i really need to make money this summer…

Is there a Facebook group yet?

Just called Gtown to get the decision on my early read. The guy I spoke with said it is “likely” that I will be admitted to Gtown’s MSB, and I should recieve an official letter in the next few days!!!

Please tell me that the admission’s pattern is sophomore transfer first, and then Junior transfer next…

Just to clarify: Not a single SFS applicant in this forum has received a letter of acceptance so far?

I am starting to get catatonic, by the way

^Think so. Not many SFS applicants in this thread though, dominated by MSB.

@lumberjack

YAY lolol

How’s my stats, btw:

HS GPA - I moved from Korea to California at the start of my Junior year, so my weighted GPA is low. But I did manage to get 4.3 at the end of my Senior year.

College GPA - From a reputable UC. 3.925 1st semester

SAT - 1450/1600

AP - 7 APs. All 5s and 4s

SAT subjects - US History 770 / World History 730 / Korean 800 / Literature 680 (gahh)

ECs - Editor in Chief of the English Newspaper Press in my Korean HS, co-founder and head admin of the school’s volunteer club, international volunteer award (not too special),
MUN experience and some officer positions, etc. etc. pretty vanilla.

Essay - Liked it. Dunno if I “Loved” it. Would give a B+

Recs - My honors program professor said she would strongly recommend me, but didn’t had the chance to read it.

Do you think I will have a good chance? Pretty standard?

I applied to SFS as well. I know a dean from the school you applied to is part of the admissions committee which would explain why decisions are coming in groups. MSB was probably the first to meet. SFS probably met sometime this week and we should start hearing shortly. That’s just a guess though.

For anyone that’s interested there’s an interesting article I found from ABC that explains Georgetowns admissions process. It’s a few years old but I doubt the process changes much from year to year. Basically the admissions committee is comprised of a dean from the school you applied to, a student and several admissions officers. They go threw all the applications then each member scores you on a scale from 1-10. 10 being the best. They add the scores up, rank everyone, and figure out where the cut off needs to be. Everyone above that number gets accepted.

*through

Disregard my spelling errors…

Im an SFS applicant as well…nothing yet
