Does anyone know when decisions are released?

The decisions are supposed to be released by mail by April 1st

can we lock this thread so there aren’t a million posts during the next two weeks? I think it’s fair to say that there won’t be any news for at least this coming next week

This notice is posted on the Georgetown Admissions website

Admissions Announcement
April 1st is the announcement date for First-Year (Freshmen) applicants.

Since April 1st is a Sunday, the notification date is Monday, April 2nd.

Decision letters will be mailed via U.S.P.S. a few days ahead of that date.

Applicants who live outside the USA will also receive an email on or about April 2nd.

Here is the link to website:

[Admissions Announcement - Office of Undergraduate Admissions](Announcements | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | Georgetown University)

So, based on that, when colleges say “notifications sent: by April 1st” it really means “around April 1st.”

from the class of 2015 decisions thread, it looks like they received their letters as early as march 26th last year…depending upon how close you live to DC, it could be very soon! :)

I think they could arrive at any point this week…the announcement about April 2nd is probably just to tell people that they may not get it by Saturday (the last day to get it before the 1st) and that they shouldn’t freak out if it doesn’t come before the 1st. Making the notification date the 2nd gives them that extra day for people to receive letters before they start passing the announced deadline.

tick tock . . . tick tock . . .

My bro just got his acceptance letter but we live in No. Va. The release date on the letter was March 28th

nella11: Don’t be heartbroken. You are an excellent student, as evidenced by your acceptances at some top schools. And a waitlisting is miles ahead of a denial, although I don’t know how much GT moves their waitlist. Do you have a college counselor you can trust who can advocate quickly on your behalf, perhaps sending in third quarters grades and an additional rec letter? If so, I’d take heart and take action. At the same time, if you can afford it, choose one of the other schools who clearly love you, make a deposit to them, and trust the universe.

Decision: Accepted - SFS

[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Rejected from Columbia, Michigan, Penn; Accepted to AU, GWU, UM, UF

[/ul]General Comments: I’m really disappointed with this one. I know I would’ve been a great fit for Georgetown, and I know I would’ve been extremely happy to attend, which I would’ve done regardless of FA. Honestly, I don’t know why I was rejected, and I’m considering asking and potentially appealing. Does anyone have any advice on whether or not to do this or how? I’ll probably be happy at UM, but I just want closure as to what they saw in me.

@kidfromthebeach…honestly, I am extremely surprised by that decision. I was accepted and I can sincerely tell you my stats are not as impressive as yours. Do you have any history with the college?? Like for example, was a sibling or other relative accepted in the past and chose not to matriculate? Or does your school have a reputation of unrealistic grade inflation, causing schools to be distrustful of its applicants? Your rejection might have been caused by some sort of political interference like this.
