LaVieEnChocolat - The letter for Gtown or WFU?

she wants to know about Georgetown :)

Island Guy… do you have children and have you been through college admissions before? We stayed out of the entire process of choosing and applying to schools (beyond my formatting a resume). And basically, I obsess here so I can just smile and be supportive to the kid. But now the decisions are starting to come, you bet I am going to be looking very closely at all these schools because S isn’t paying the bill, we are as his parents. Take me out of that equation and it’ll be a lot tougher for S to even go.

Just got the letter from GTown in the mail. Called D who told me to open it…another rejection. FYI the envelope has exactly one piece of paper in it, so no question that it is a rejection when you see it.

Yes, have one child who’s already gone through this, and child #2 going through it this year. I have no problem with parents supporting their kids, their decisions, and their feelings. It’s just that some of these postings sound like the parents are the ones applying and angry when they don’t understand why “they” were not accepted or were wait-listed.
My son received a generous offer from American, and accept letter from GWU, and is waiting to hear from Georgetown. I’m proud of him and supportive, but I’m not going to analyze the envelope or drive it to my son’s school. I’m just going to to smile and tell him I’m proud of him no matter what color the card is.

i work part time in an ER and totally know what you mean about parents and their children. It’s only natural though ;)

Accepted!!

I’m genuinely surprised; I thought my SFS essay was awful. Yay Georgetown!

Denied. Had been deferred EA so kind of expected it. Not as painful as deferment had been, I have already wrapped my brain around another school and so this kind of was just a loose end that needed tied up. Best of luck to all in the future and it was really nice chatting with you guys during this exciting time in our lives.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc:
Posting my stats for anyone looking to apply in the future. Congrats to everyone who has gotten in!!! I’m just so excited that I wasn’t outright rejected lol.

**Anyone on here I need some advice - would it be worth it to keep my name on the waitlist? I’m already starting to make plans to attend another college…would it be worth it for me to stay on to see if i get in & see if I receive enough financial aid to go there? I still am interested in attending, but I don’t want to be taking up someone else’s spot.

i was waitlisted. the envelope had two pieces of paper in it and one yellow postcard. u could tell that it was neither an acceptance nor a rejection. i had 2210 SATs, class rank 7/1080. my interview was ok.

Ohh okay! The rejection letter was only one sheet of paper. Very thin, very light. I knew immediately upon touching it that it was only one piece of paper.

jrh what state are you in

waitlist. i’m not sure if i’m going to keep my name on the list - we’ll see from what happens tomorrow. i didn’t make as much effort on the app as i should have, but it was one of my top picks. all i can say after reading the stuff here is that i’m glad i don’t have helicopter parents. they’re supportive but in no way are they analyzing my envelopes and basically pinning their hopes and aspirations on me. gosh.
