Sadly, I do not think I will be taking a place in the class of 2013, since I was denied financial aid, but it is still fulfilling to be accepted to such a wonderful institution! I was denied from my first choice school, so for those who might not have been accepted, don’t worry! Everything happens for a reason and you must never get discourage or accept defeat! It all works out in some way or another!! :)

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: I thought my SFS essay was downright atrocious. I wrote on the Arab-Israeli (more specifically the Palestinian-Israeli) conflict and it was very long (like a few pages long) and all over the place. A few days later i got my TIME magazine and the feature was on the same topic, had similar ideas and obviously was very well written and well thought-out. I thought i was screwed big time…

ACCEPTED!!!

will post stats later :-)

Why does everyone get accepted except me? Like I’ve seen 2 rejections excluding me so far…

[/ul]

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Congrats to everyone. I probably will be giving up my spot, but it will be a really tough decision.

desiking75: Because accepted people are happy and will be more inclined to go on a public forum and post their stats. Don’t be too sad ok? Georgetown’s admit rate this year is about UPenn’s, ~17% so you’re definitely not the only one.

Rejected from GT College, School of languages and linguistics.
O well. Life goes on. The worst part is that I actually thought I had a solid chance… I get rejected from GT but I got into Duke. I really don’t understand this college admission process…

Congrats to all accepted!.My D was not for some reason this was the big OUCH though not her #1. I have to go on record as hating this college process. It goes against everything I believe in and has from the start. It is so random, how do you calulate or get across a person’s personal integrity, or engagement etc… She has had her share of Acceptances, waitlists, and rejections and that is part of life. I have seen this written before, but what a college thinks of you has no bearing on who you are. it’s a shame there is not a better system. this has been one of the hardest years in our family and I have had cancer…Twice…

**Decision: Waitlisted **

Stats:[ul]
[] SAT Verbal: 760
[] SAT Math: 710
[] SAT Writing: 770
[] SAT Total: 740
[] SAT II: U.S History (730), Math 1 (680), Literature (780)
[] ACT: Didn’t take.
[] AP/IB taken/scores: U.S. History (5), European History (5), English Literature (5), English Language (5).
[] GPA weighted: We don’t weigh GPAs at my school.
[] GPA unweighted: 3.79.
[] Rank or % estimate: Definitely in the top ten percent.

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Essays: They weren’t the strongest I’ve ever done, but my writing is above average.
[] Teacher Recs: I would be shocked if they were anything less than excellent.
[] Counselor Rec: My counselor seems proud of me, so I can imagine they were good.
[] Hook (if any): My last name is Hispanic? Lol.

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: USA.
[] School Type: Public.
[] Ethnicity: Didn’t specify.
[] Gender: Female.
[] Legacy Yes/No: No.
[] Recruited Yes/No: No.
[] Important ECs: Gymnastics for ten years, karate for six years (black belt).
[] Likely Letter Yes/No: Huh?

[/ul]Other Factors: As I mentioned earlier, my writing is above average, so that may have helped with some of the essays.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Georgetown keeps me waiting… I applied Early Action and got deferred, and now I’m on the waitlist! Oh well, better than being rejected!

Downtoearth: I understand your concern. But quite frankly I really like the admission process for North American universities.
You should come to France and see how it’s done here. I assure you that you will be running back to the American process.

thanks for the perspective… good luck to everyone in your college careers!

ok iskander
the admission process in france is not that bad
dont worry im french
les concours
america is growing so much more difficult in colleges
all my cousins and friends in france dont think it was that much of a pain, yes u hav test and lots of interviews, but at least you hva more of a grasp on your admission decision
in america people with 2390 SAT can get waitlisted into a school like gtown

Waitlisted

Waitlisted #4 for me… <_< this is just frustrating.

^^

This is true that France admissions process is maybe easier (if you can say that, imagine having to take one test le BAC to sum up your entire learning in high school), but thats the problem. If you have a bad day on the day of you BAC, then your basically not going to go somewhere you diserve.

In France and many overseas places, wher you go is determines by one test and like leprchaunmooe said, an interview (not even at all schools though)

I know the US system has its flaws, but at least schools try to look at us as real people and not as numbers… the again, school in France is free ;)

Waitlisted.
