**Official Georgetown University Transfer Thread 2009**

Interviews are not required of transfer applicants… it’s all about the availability of alumni in your area as to whether or not you’re offered one. It’s not an indication of whether or not you’ll be accepted or any kind of reflection on the merits of your application.

autrefois, I’m in NC as well and haven’t heard anything either… but I’m friends with a Georgetown graduate who’s given me a heads up about some of the stuff… so don’t worry.

phew, thanks a lot ken!

Is Georgetown need blind for transfer applicants?

Yeah the interview is strictly to give them a chance to get to know you, and i’ve heard that it rarely hurts you, but it could certainly be an advantage.

Georgetown is supposed to be need blind, but things might be a little different this year with the economy and all.

Guys we need some life on this thread it’s almost our time! Stay strong!!!

anyone willing to post their stats/info/hooks?
I’m 28 black male
community college transfer
current GPA is 3.15
Excellent recommendations from a professor and a Judge
Mother is an attorney(American WCL 97) Father is entrepreneur (Michigan 85)
I don’t know my dean, so I’m sure they gave me a generic report
Essays were very personal and very well written
Submitted a copy of my resume which was professionally done
I am starting a website that is focused on the economy, which may benefit me with MSB
My interviewer was very enthusiastic about my website and thought I would be an excellent addition to the school(plus we were the same age)
My biggest obstacle will be my GPA, i had 2 classes which I couldn’t finish and that brought my gpa down a bit. I have petitioned to have them removed from my gpa calculation which would raise my gpa up to a 3.5

I am applying for Spring admissions into : USC, Florida State, Rice, Richmond, Michigan

Does anyone know if we are going to be notified that Gtown has received our applications?

Or do they just let us assume and only let us know if there is a problem with our application?

Welshy,

I called the Georgetown admissions office a while back with the same question about application materials. The answer: you will be contacted by us if anything is missing… So, if you havent been contacted yet, everything is all set.

I got an email from them today. Nice to know my dean never sent the dean’s report in that I requested him to, ugh. I am going to fax it this time. Must mean they are starting to review the transfer apps?

heehee. so i havent been contacted… oddly enough 9/10 schools contacted me and said they didnt receive my hs transcript… but gtown no contact.i called today and they told me what they told you weitz… i just have a feeling that my hs transcript wasnt sent out. hmmmmmmm 9/10 = 90% chance it wasnt…

ehm my stats… i have no hooks… except I rowed from potomac boat club? so that is nearby?
i have a 3.89 ish gpa. depending how u count that lonely D i got, even tho i retook the course and got an A…it could be a 3.68 gpa if you count both the a and d.
im asian/white.
i also grew up in the d.c. area (nova). had a horrible hs gpa.
personal essays for sure.
my mom and dad… i didnt really mention them at all because they are jerks. my recs (i sent 2 plus the one from the dean) were outstanding saying #1/top/highest/extreeeeeem throughout(they made me read them all after the fact?)
I didnt start anything economy/business ish. =(
My interview was rushed with a busy guy =((
I am in a lot of student leadership/honors programs/chief newsletter editor.
no resume =(((

i am applying to wells, gtown, the 4 free ucs that I was entitled to: davis/irvine/la/berkeley, tufts, nwstern, hopkins, and 2 dream schools stan/yale (just for fun)

I got an email a couple days ago that my professor report wasn’t received. (because I never submitted one) I have been taking online classes for a year so i had to search and find one that i actually sat in front of, to send one in.

Is it me or does it get harder and harder every day to wait.

Georgetown = Life
Yes I know I’m being a little dramatic, but this school means a lot to me

I understand the anxiety. I am feeling less now that I got into Vanderbilt, but really want to get into Georgetown. At least one acceptance into a good school has kept me from thinking too much about my dream school

Let’s talk about why we love Georgetown…I love the campus, the immediate Georgetown area, the student body, plus I have some good friends who go there…although I picked the school first haha only they got in the first time around

Craintrain, you seem pretty eager to go to Georgetown.

Are you very confident of getting or just very desperate to get out of your current school?

What are your stats?

im not confident…actually very nervous and yes i do want out of my school…i dont give stats because the make me nervous. georgetown is my dream school and i just really wanna get there!!!

am i the only one that everyone seems to be saying “dont worry about it, i’m sure you’ll gt in?” I guess its easy to say it, but harder to believe it. Its my first choice and right now my only choice. If I dont get in, I will do another semester at CC and finish my associates, then try to find another school that i think could give me the experience that I’m looking for.
I think I’m gonna consider USoCal, Fl St , So Fl , Rice and possibly U Richmond.

Canzior, I am right there with you. I should have applied to a ton of other schools than just been comfortable going to my state U if I didn’t get into Georgetown. Now I plan to stay another year at cc as well if necessary however it will be a third year for me lol.
