Damn I am so upset. Might as well throw in the towel.

Since the leaning answers a lot of CCers have been getting are not final decisions, I’m wondering… is there any chance that an unlikely leaning answer via email/phone has the possibility of resulting in acceptance/waitlist? Does any body know through personal experience, the grape vine, last year’s thread…?

although i do not have personal experience, i’m pretty sure that an “unlikely” answer will 99.99% of the time result in a rejection. it’s highly unlikely that someone can be admitted after receiving an unlikely answer bc they are telling you basically that you can go ahead and pursue your other commitments.

@bisebeb: adcoms never change their decisions. “unlikely” is just a nicer way of saying denied.

So what you guys are basically saying is that since we haven’t heard anything , there is no point waiting for an answer !!? But I think it is easier for them to just said DENIED rather than make us wait that long !! right ?
I am too scared to call, an “unlikely” answer would devastate me !! but It could be better for me to face the truth :(

You guys. The website says the response date is June 1st. If you look at past years there were plenty of people who received acceptances in late May. It’s only the 17th of May. If they were going to reject everyone now, they would just send the letters all out at once. The fact that they haven’t done that shows that they’re probably still deliberating.

Besides, if there were a lot of people who had issues sending materials (which is very possible considering that the storm in February caused problems for people sending in materials at the time) then it makes sense that they would take longer.

The response date this year is June 15th!

Sorry, I was referring to the date they announce all decisions by.

Current School: UPitt
ACT: not sending it
College GPA: 2.7
HS GPA: 3.0 unweighted
Junior transfer

do i have a chance?

I dont think so dude, at least with your stats, but you could stand a chance if you speak more than 2 languages, or some kind of valuable experience.

My Stats:

HS GPA: A have french Baccaleureat , the GPA system is different
College GPA: 3.7
ACT: Didnt send it, I dont know what that is
Languages : 6 languages including Arabic, French, English, Spanish, Songhai, Bambara and I have lived in 7 countries in my life.
I am transfering from a Community College in the DC area, and the only reason I think I stand a chance is because of my diverse backgournd, languages etc…
But again, I wish you all the luck in the world, This is a great school, just show your uniqueness in your application.

Just so you guys know… All committees have finished meeting and decisions have been finalized. Final yes/no answers will be sent out no later than May 28th. I emailed Kim Harves for a leaning answer and she responded with an “unlikely” admittance from MSB.

I emailed back to see if I could get into the College, but she told me ALL committees are finished, and ALL decisions have been made.

I’m very disappointed about my response, but I guess there is nothing I can do about it. I can only hope that GW gives me a yes, otherwise I will be at University of Miami this fall.

If you applied to MSB, why would they consider you for the College? lol

drob80, when did you e-mail Kim Harves? I emailed her today and got an out of office reply.

i emailed last week before she went out of town. I got the same message, and then shortly after she replied herself.

and to hookedongtown, just because I was rejected from one school doesn’t mean I wouldn’t qualify for another. Simply means other people beat me out for MSB. My major is international business with a minor in economics; I could easily switch that to a major in economics with a minor in business simply to get into gtown. Economics is a major in the College.

University of Miami places students that do not currently qualify for their school of business in their college until they can transfer to their SB. So I thought that I would askt he same… no hurt in trying…

i see drob80, maybe she’ll reply to me as well.

i think what hookedongtown meant was: for schools like georgetown, there isn’t much of a difference between the college and business school. they are both very competitive. while it is common in other schools for business programs to be more rigorous than the liberal arts, and thus for them to consider students not accepted into the business program for college programs, Georgetown does not have such a distinction. all schools are very competitive.

Not exactly. You’re supposed to apply to the school you’re best suited for. Not just ANY school!

yes, that’s naturally true. but some schools consider applicants to other programs if they are not accepted into their primary choice. you can argue how right/wrong it is, but it’s done.

Which schools do that?

drock80 mentioned that u miami does it. rutgers also does it.

drock80: I just realized i misspelled your name in my previous post… sorry!

I e-mailed her on Friday and no response yet…what does that mean? I know most responses have been bad news but I couldn’t wait one more day and now I’m going crazy!!! Maybe my e-mail was long and she didn’t read it and now i’m stuck with no leaning answer. Someone said that some committees were going to meet for the last time on May 24th and now they say all decisions have been made…then why don’t they e-mail everyone!!
