Hey guys, the deadline is almost here, so I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread. Good luck to everyone!

Feel free to ask questions, comments, or chances

if we do early action, is the President’s scholarship the only way we can get merit aid? if so, how many students (or how much percentage) get it? otherwise what are the other merit aid scholarships possible?

Georgia Tech’s Presidential and Provost scholarships are the only ones students are considered for when they apply Early Action. You can find other scholarships here: [Scholarships | GA Tech Financial Aid](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Financial Aid”>Blow the Whistle!
@UNCacceptance Have you considered the ACT? It might be too late, but I feel that your SAT scores might be holding you down

^ Instate or out of state?

Out of state

Ok. The best way to figure out her chances would be to calculate her GPA the way they did last year. Although they don’t do that any more it would give you a clearer picture of her chances for EA. I think she has a decent chance because of the SAT and AP classes however the GPA is a little low. I don’t think she will be denied but it’s possible she may be deferred to RD simply because they are going to have a lot of applicants with the common app and last year it seemed like quite a few kids got deferred with GPA’s higher than hers. They also take more in state than out of state kids. However they are trying to raise the ratio of girls to guys so that will probably help. Good luck.

Sorry you are correct about the transcript being do on November 1st.

@parent62

It doesn’t matter whether she’s in state or out of state, but I honestly think she has a good chance. Because there’s going to me more competition through the common app, most college will objectively compare students through their SAT. If her essays are good, I would give her a good shot, but that weighted GPA is a little low.

Edit: Also, is she an IB student?

No, but can take courses as school offers both AP and IB programs

Easy part is getting in, kids.

Not with the switch to common app this year

I hope I did good on the SAT. Based on last years GPA methodology, I have a 3.91 GT Weighted GPA (middle 50 was 3.85 - 4.11). I’m pretty sure I got 2200+ on the SAT, but would a 2100+ suffice (just to be safe)?

A 2,100+ would put you in the middle 50%(2000 - 2210), so it shouldn’t be a problem. As long as your class rigor is fine and your EC’s are ok.
