Well I was not trying to dishearten you but I got deferred from Michigan CoE, UIUC engineering, and Cornell ED so far. I got into my safeties and UIUC LAS CS but I am hoping GT will be different. Siemens and Intel both are definitely commendable. My stats are similar to yours but I am just saying based on my previous decisions but GT will hopefully a bit easier to push people like us over the edge especially because they look at wgpa. Nothing to worry.

@Coder90 that is actually neat that you got deferred from Cornell CoE. Very few get deferred and most of them get in at the end, I heard. So, looks like the Intel did help because it is hard to get in Cornell with these sorts stats. Donāt you think?

Well, thatās rather optimistic but Cornell is ivy and places like GT, Michigan, UIUC are state which weigh numbers much more heavily. Lol Where did you hear most Cornell defers get in? Idk, it may be pretentious to say I got in already but I suppose. Well, there is not much more we can do but wait. I wish the best of luck to all of us.

Did you apply to UC Berkeleyās EECS by any chance? Heard it is really hard to get in.

@agg yep I did. Itās difficult and even with a chance of admission, they are broke so I canāt count on much aid lol.

I think any student planning to major in CS would want to go to one of these schools: UCB EECS, CMU SCS, MIT, Stanford, perhaps Cornell/GA Tech (heard they are really good though).

Guys, only two days to find our decisionsā¦
Good luck! :)

Yay only 2 days until we know :)

I recently applied for RD and I am just wondering why my entering status is āInternational Freshmenā when I am actually not. Anyone have/had the same problem?

@agg999 i had the same problem. my counselor said it might have to do with my citizenship status. im a permanent resident. i e-mailed the admissions office and they fixed it.
also i heard some people already got their decisions for EA, anybody know about this?

Thereās apparently a Georgia Tech class of 2018 page on facebook, so I decided to check it out (itās not very active btw). When I did, someone posted saying that he got in, but on December 21- the day decisions were originally supposed to come out. I donāt know if he was a transfer student or if he was lying, but as far as I know, decisions havenāt been released.

Hhahaha I looked at the facebook page, itās only Indians and Asians hahahaha. Cracks me up everytime.

@quantum I am actually a permanent resident tooā¦ Maybe thatās why. I e-mailed the admissions and waiting for their response.

Do you guys think I have a shot for admissions/scholarships?

4.32 gpa (should be at least 4.4 after this semester)
ACT MATH:35
ACT ENGLISH:35
ACT COMBINED ENGLISH WRITTING: 32 (essay 9)
very good extra ciricsā¦ these are my best part

you applied early demonchild?

yeppppppppppp

youll get in, dont know about scholarships, they dont offer that much.

Guys, do you know if GT looks like at all at unweighted or solely weighted. My weighted is rather high at 4.55 but my unweighted is like a 3.75 so there is a big difference in the two. Do they just look at weighted? If they do, that is much better for me.

@Coder Colleges are going to look at your transcript and go through every single course and grade that you got. The grades that you got is more important than a GPA number. Different schools have different ways of computing GPAās. So, if your transcript looks decent (or if you have a good reason(s) explaining your bad grades) you should be in good shape. Good Luck!

For some reason, on Buzzport it still says I am an international freshmen; it is bugging me. I applied RD, so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I highly doubt that they are going to go through every grade you got for 12,000 applicants. From what Iāve heard, they are only going to look at weighted GPA, but iām not too sure.
