I am an international student( Indian CBSE student) who has applied to Georgia. Mechanical Engg

My SAT scores are CR:620 Math:710 Writing:630 Composite: 1950 My high school rank is top 10%(10/139) in a very competitive school with highly rigorous curriculum. My ninth and tenth grade CGPA is 10/10(All A1’s). My 11th % is 93.2% and i was 1st in my section. Subject tests Math Level 2: 800 Chem: 740(Retook in Dec) Phy:710(Retook in Dec)
I have almost 30-35 hours of community service. I also played for my school cricket team, I won the science and social science exhibition for two years running, represented my school at national level for same, I have a merit certificate from CBSE and also many prizes for debating, elocutions, maths projects, etc(At school level). What are my chances of getting accepted. I also have excellent recommendations from my counsellor and Chemistry teacher. My essay is decent(7.5/10) and my writing supplement is excellent(10/10)

What % chance do i have of getting selected, as I really want to attend Georgia. It is my 1st choice university.

Do regular students compete for the same spots against international students, or are they judged in a different pool?

Bump10char?

can i get into tech without teacher recs?

Yeah you can green tea. I talked to the head of gt admissions about the whole rec thing and they’re only even considering one because the common app has a section for teacher recs. He said they would hardly actually look at it.

They were nor reqrd last year and said Not to send them because they didn’t mean much to them and they’d be tossed. I was wondering how they suddenly became important in a year - from a don’t bother sending we’ll toss.

Hey dirtysocks45, do you go on Reddit by any chance?

Ohhh the suspense

7 days left…

Man, this thread is dead quiet…

(Meanwhile, I’m screaming my lungs out inside my head because decisions come out in T-6.5 days)

I didn’t get a response last time, but are domestic applicants compared with international applicants or are they both separate?

To my knowledge, most public universities have three separate applicant pools (in increasing order of competitiveness):

1) In-state

2) OOS (out-of-state)

3) International

I wish they would release some statistics about their admitted profile. With 12,000 applicants, they would probably admit 4500. They might admit more since they know that many students will prefer to go to different schools. 37% EA acceptance rate. Damn. Just my speculation.

Because Georgia institute of technology is a very competitive school does that mean that you can’t get in with a 20 on the ACT or simply a lower score than the range that the school usually tells you?

I’ve heard some rumors that the acceptance rate this year dropped 15%…does anyone know whether this is true or not?

Their regular decision rate, yeah probably around 15%, last year it was 18%. However EA is usually 35-50%.

15% is insane for ga tech even with their switch to the common app. Overall acceptance rate should be around 30%
