Has anyone received information about the provost scholarship?
Is there any point in doing the Honors program if I’m doing Engineering/Comp Sci
Just got an offer for the Provost Scholarship in the mail!
@elk1122 what were your stats?
@nagintapls
ACT 34 (32M and 35E)
GPA 4.0 unweighted, 1/300ish in my class
IB student plus 4s on AP music theory and APUSH and 5 on English lang
Pretty average ECs, president of one of the clubs and leadership/ lots of involvement in band
NMSF (hopefully finalist soon!) and a few school awards
Not sure if GT cares about this at all but I did work for a lawyer between tenth and eleventh grade.

I’m not a Presidential semifinalist so this was a big big surprise. I hope other people in this thread get Provost letters soon! The envelope was extremely unassuming so be sure you don’t accidentally throw away any GT mail haha.

Yes do the honors program. It goes on your transcript, you take a number of similar core courses that are much smaller and more participative. But when you graduate, you have Honors program on your transcript which means you are in a unique group of 120 kids, half of which are Presidential Scholars. More than 50% of honors kids graduate with Highest Honors (> 3.55 GPA) Its about being around those that push themselves and you will find you do too.
Good luck.
Btw does anyone know the honors program application deadline? It says it’s due the 31st, but does that mean the end of the day or some time before?
Did anyone receive the Georgia Tech luggage tag in the mail today? Nice little gift!
Did they send an email too regarding Provost scholarship?
Anyone else been notified of Provost scholarship?
So did those accepted receive an acceptance video with several individuals saying congratulations and then a few cheerleaders saying the same? Wanted to see the video sent out.
any1 get that gift they were talkin about for pres scholarship
@arladoc1 No email, just the letter. It hasn’t shown up anywhere in my BuzzPort either.
My son applied EA in 2013 and was deferred (4.18 wgpa; 3.8 uwgpa; 34 ACT; 10 APs). Fortunately he was admitted in the regular decision round but was admitted for the summer semester. For all you 2015 applicants, here’s the scoop: summer semester was a great experience and my son got a real jump on living on a campus, managing his time, learning how to get around and getting 2 classes out of the way. When fall semester started, he was all set. And even though he was deferred initially, he is already ranked as a senior after this semester and has earned a full tuition scholarship from the State of Georgia. All this is to say to you guys who’ve been deferred: don’t be discouraged! A bunch of the deferred students will still get in and may still end up thriving and doing great at GT!
Hey everybody, I’m an international admitted student. I received the Provost Scholarship, so I will most likely be attending GT. I’m applying to the honors program, does anyone have any information about students admitted there? Do they focus greatly on SAT’s/ACT’s, and do you think that I have a greater chance since I received the Provost??
I got into GT and I love everything about it, but I am horrified that I’ll just be stressed and unhappy the whole time. Has anybody heard the same thing? Or should I just not be worried? Help!!

@sbeegs It’s definitely a challenging school, but I wouldn’t be too worried. It’s a fun campus and there’s always something interesting going on. I’ve had multiple friends with varying interests and personalities go. Some are actors, some athletes, some honors students, some who never want to take another class in their life, some who love to party, some who are shy… you get the point. Not a single one has any had any regrets about GT. It’s a wonderful place, and, should you decide to go, you will have an incredible time.
@rappnic: The Honors Program admissions usually depend on your extracurricular activities. The program wants students who come in with really good resumes (so to speak) from high school. It definitely isn’t test-score-focused.
@sbeegs: I wouldn’t be too worried either. Georgia Tech is a huge school and you’re bound to find people with similar interests. A lot of students go to hackathons on weekends, a lot of students go to parties (both frat and off campus) on weekends. There are always a lot of things to do on campus and in Atlanta. As for the stress issue, Tech academics are definitely manageable. If you’re worried, take a lighter courseload your first semester than you think you can handle and join clubs slowly (or have no compunction dropping out of clubs you don’t want to be in).
