Official Harvard 2015 Decisions Countdown Thread

soooo, when exactly is d-day?

March 30th

Bump!

25 days, 19 hours, 29 minutes.

Wow this[/url”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-2015/]this shows how close we are getting to decisions

This thread is scary! I don’t know if I want my decisions. I’ll have to be sedated beforehand, especially for H.

^^ o.m.g.
^ I seriously do not know how I’m gonna be able to open that email.

Although I’m not applying until next year, I’m rooting for every one of you guys!! Good luck!!!

Aww, that’s so nice of you!

Anyway, ladies and gents, three and a half weeks until decision day. Also, Committee should begin this week.

^What exactly does the committee do? Do they re-review all the applications, just the 70% or so that are “qualified,” or a greatly pared down pool of the “top choices?”

^ I think the latter part (they have to). IMHO, they would have already reviewed each application (and that too much before) and should have already eliminated more than 30,000 apps!

I think you guys should get drunk that day and check the your email the next day cause it seems like your going to have a torturous march 30th

That’s worrisome. I faxed in an update on Feb 14. Do you think I could have been rejected by then?

you are hosed … you don’t have to wait for Mar 30th

At Committee, each regional representative presents his or her prospective admits (which have been chosen at subcommittee) to all 35ish adcoms including the chair (Dean Fitzsimmons). They talk and generally come to a consensus without requiring the dean’s vote. However, when the vote gets close, the dean makes the final decision on that applicant. At the end of the process, the committee is around 40-200 applicants over the limit of 2100ish admits, so they go back and revote their weakest admits. All of this takes place during around the last two weeks before decisions are released, so it’s nice to know that the final list of admits isn’t sitting somewhere for an entire month.

I know I’m stressing out, but in all seriousness, could one of the “80% qualified applicants” be rejected by mid-February?

Probably. I think adcoms have a pretty good idea of what a Harvard student looks like, and a candidate who isn’t even a little bit of a standout in a particular area may only get a cursory second glance, if any. Mind you, there are plenty of ways to be enough of a standout to get serious consideration of your application. And this is all just conjecture.

Considering the unrest in Libya, I see World War III no far… :(

The World is divided into two parts.

US, UK

France, Russia…

Do you think 2012 is the end of the world?

^seriously?

i think Aliens will come back to Earth in 2012.
I have this theory that Mankind received its sudden technology from extra terrestrial sources.
Google ‘Ancient Astronauts’. Its all there
