how many z-lists were offered last year?

i've heard that the z-list requires some special applicants (i.e. legacies), and the chances of getting an offer are very low if you're not a special case

art_star, you are WRONG. I know someone who was taken off the waitlist, and trust me when I say that he, nor I, has no reason to lie.

there have been some conflicting reports--does anybody know for certain when they will start making calls? is it this coming week that they will make the majority of calls, or towards to end of may?

Good quesion, gadli. I imagine they will start making calls next week, but I really don't know.

When I called to verify that they received my supplementary letter, they said that they wouldn't be able to access my account, and that the officers are meeting for the "next few days" to discuss the wait list. Does anybody think this means the next few business days, as in Friday, Monday, Tuesday, or do you think they're working weekends?

This is my take on it, I think they'll start making calls this week. For those who don't get the call, they'll get rejection letters the week of May 19th. I think they'll keep some of the waitlistee's around until June just in case some of the people from the first round say "no."

Last year the majority of rejection letters were dated on May 18th for the first round and June 4th for the second round of rejections.

Totally my predictions, so take it with a grain of salt.

I know they offered more than 1000 waitlist spots at least to students but not all the students accepted them. Does anyone know how many people chose to remain on the waiting list?

They say about 2/3 accept positions on the waitlist. So probably 700 or so.
However, some waitlisties are more interested than others.

A quote to ponder while we wait...

... Progress however, of the best kind, is comparatively slow. Great results cannot be achieved at once; and we must be satisfied to advance in life as we walk, step by step.
- Samuel Smiles

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

dwindlelights, how do you know that?
I saw in an article that the wait list "numbers in the many hundreds"

woah. 175/700? Outstanding odds.

Hey :)
I was also waitlisted @ Harvard..
Did anyone get a call or e-mail from the school?

Nobody yet, sparkley, at least not on CC. We've all been wondering when Harvard's going to start calling.

I wonder if they'll just call and leave a message on our home phones or if they'll try our cellphones? Imagine coming home to a phone call from Harvard!

With my luck, mine will be a message recorded with a bostonian accent thick enough to spread on toast, so that I misinterpret the voice-mail as a tele-marketing monologue for iphone insurance and delete the message.

good luck to everyone else on the waitlist!

my heart rate spikes every time someone posts on this thread

I said at least 1000 because I am comparing it to other Ivy Leagues and top tier schools....

Yale.....1052 offered spots
Princeton....1500 offered spots
Stanford.....1500 offered spots

I GOT A CALL!

in my dreams

I imagine a few people will get calls tomorrow. But who knows these days?

If I get a call I'll be sure to let everyone know exactly what went down ;)

not nice alohasam, you gave me a heart attack! every time the phone rings, my heart skips a beat...good luck, everyone!
