Hi all, I hope this post will clear some things up and relieve your anxiety levels.

From what I understand/derive, the acceptances off the waitlist are done on a rolling basis, meaning the committee meets everyday and evaluates different applicant's profiles, and if they believe you're a viable candidate and someone they're looking for, they will vote and if u receive enough votes, you're admitted. (I don't know how many votes you need or how many votes there are total). So all in all, the university will not make the speculated 200 calls on one day. So if you didn't get one, don't give up!

btw, I remember reading in previous posts before they started notifying people that if you see a call from area code 617, then it's probably from Harvard--this is entirely valid!! so keep that eye out!

to answer your question dna3, I tried logging into the Harvard's admitted students website, no success.

Applicants are taken from the waiting list so that the overall class looks as the admission committee wants it to look, bearing in mind who didn't accept offers of admission from the first round of offers. The idea is to choose "well lopsided" people to build a well rounded class.

First time poster, longtime looker. These threads are really helpful. Is it too late to send some supplemental material now? I didn't think it was, because they are still notifying all the way through June.

So if I'm a white girl from a major metropolitan area, I'm out of luck, but then again, if I'm a minority from a rural area, I need to pray that another minority from a rural area nearby says "no"? Seems like a lose-lose.

Does well-lopsided refer to interests, talents, awards, etc? Just trying to clarify things.

Do you all think they'd ever take 2 WL students from the same school? One of my friends (had a 2400/ 4.0/ great EC's) was WL and accepted yesterday. Does this basically eliminate me from the equation?

I'm from an underrepresented southern state.

any internationals out there??? i wonder if internationals will be considered separately from the US applicants.. AH but i bet the yield was higher among the int'ls bcoz of harvard's prestige outside the US

for internationals i think they call ur college counselor instead of you.. at least that's what columbia did when they took me off the waitslist last week!

I really wonder if they're going through the waitlist in any sort of order. So far I fail to see any trend, except they seem to have started calling people in the northeast and random scattered states. Are student files sorted by state or alphabetically?

This is wonderful: I have a heart attack every time the phone rings.

at inkblotch: LMAO me too!!! i'm such a loser.

i really hope they're not in any particular order. Someone on this thread from NYC has already been contacted and if they've gone through all nyc people already...then i'm done =(
