***Official Harvard Class of 2012 Waitlist Thread***

Haha wow... that is awful news for me (the whole checking grades thing) I had a C- in Differential Equations at midterm (now a B).

CNI: Well excuse me, Differential Equations? lol, you are way ahead. You are absolutely fine!

Haha, trust me when I'm saying I'm not trying to show off- I just feel that that a C- is pretty much unexcusable in any setting.

shoot i will end up with a solid B in physics
you think that might hurt and get my offer taken away?

haha you guys need to stop worrying

Our school only offers 10 AP courses and out of that 10, one is French and one is Spanish. There is a girl this year that will graduate with 9 AP's, and that's probably the school record. lol My son will graduate with 7 and that's on the higher end. It seems that Harvard has to compare apples to oranges when it does admissions. Luckily for us were instate, so maybe that's why our high school doesn't get written off all together. The student from our school who got into Harvard is graduating with 5 AP's.

I'm actually feeling better about the fact that maybe Harvard's not in the cards for my son. We had an award dinner last night with all his friends and he and a good friend of his, who is also going to BC, were talking about how they'd be each other's wingman at college. It made me feel better that maybe everything happens for a reason and this is just what is meant to be.

emmabelle,

We are way out in Calif and we have several kids this year from our school going to BC. It's a great school! The top kids are going there.

Best of luck wherever your child goes

Or perhaps H is doing its "homework" early. Perhaps they are checking grades now so that if they offer a student a place in the class from off the waitlist, they won't have to rescind them 6 weeks later!! LOL.

Can't help but think that while we are not happy that this has dragged out so long, they can't be happy to be working so late in the game, either!

well said emmabelle. after visiting georgetown again a couple weekends ago, i felt much more comfortable and am now very happy to be attending there for the next four years. of course, i'd love the opportunity to go to harvard, but fi it's not in the cards, then georgetown fits me absolutely perfectly. however things turn out, they will turn out for the better.

Did everyone who was admitted get a GC call first?

definately Gadli, it's all what you make of it!

Stay seated! The wait might be longer than we all thought. Final decisions will be made by JULY 1, students will be notified as the committee makes their decisions, every case is being reviewed, committee is currently meeting, and yes, "about 200" will be admitted to Harvard from the waitlist---according to Harvard admissions officer I just spoke with. Please keep posting. It's encouraging to all of us. Good luck!

yay MA! i can't imagine they'd need many MA-ers. i live right on the MA-NH border, in the middle of no where, a small town called Ashburnham. heard of it? i'd be shocked if you have.

agreed Emily814... 7 kids in my school are going to harvard next year, my chances are looking pretty slim

wow talk about a powerhouse school. we get a harvardbound student every..decade or so

Jodi92657
I am sure they meant the process to be completed by July.

When are the calls usually made? In the morning/ afternoon/ evenings?

This is unfortunate; I have several scholarships that does not allow you to change your college choice. So if I get off the waitlist, I potentially lose several thousand dollars -_-

I think in the evening. My friend got a call near 8 PM EST, and someone else said at 5:30 PM. I'm assuming that they'll debate for a day, and then amke the calls after work's done.

New member, found the forum by googling for info on "Harvard wait list".

I graduated from the college....any other "legacies" in the forum? (I didn't have the patience to read through all the posts to see if this question has been asked before). My D has not had any news...
