either way, we...
...wait :-)

according to my GC, harvard has already admitted its first wave. however, the process is not over yet, so we shall continue to wait.

I wish Harvard would be less secrative about this whole process and just inform people what they are doing. This would have them hundreds of frantic calls.

do you think it would be possible for all of us to keep our postings to only those who have personally heard from Harvard themselves; whether it be through a GC; regional rep; admissions office; or via email; phone calls or snail mail?
this could help to relieve some of the emotional stress caused by hearsay.
it just frustrating to hear so many contradicting statements.

I had several interviewees waitlisted, and would like to see one or more of them admitted. I understand they've taken 147 through today."

Just to confuse things a little more, check out the following:

“We have already begun waiting list deliberations, having scheduled a series of meetings in anticipation of drawing extensively from the waiting list this year,” said Fitzsimmons. “We will make a large number of decisions before the end of May and will conclude the meetings at the end of June,” he said.

Could you please re-post this hyperlink. I was unable to open it. Anyone else try with no success?

Thanks

So I suppose this is it then - only 50 more?
Hm...again, i'm not trying to be optimistic, but where are these 150 people?

believer8, it's from auto-admit.com (remove the hyphen)

it would be really funny and ironic if the people not admitted from CC were the only ones not admitted off the waitlist

So the interesting segments of that article dated today:

We have already begun waiting list deliberations, having scheduled a series of meetings in anticipation of drawing extensively from the waiting list this year, said Fitzsimmons. We will make a large number of decisions before the end of May and will conclude the meetings at the end of June, he said.

It now appears that we will be able to admit more than 200 students from the waiting list, said Fitzsimmons. Added Marlyn E. McGrath, director of admissions, We have many outstanding students on the waiting list, and we are delighted that we will be able to respond positively to them.

Call me a fool - but the rheotoric doesn't seem to imply that nearly 75% of those who would get off the WL have already been offered admission

Good call. However, at least two (presumably well-placed) people have independently stated that about 145 waitlistees have already been offered admission. Even though, as gadli says, it would be striking if so few people on CC got off the waitlist, the two people who posted did so with some authority and with numbers that are very, very close.

They're still anonymous internet posters. Whatever. This thread's depressing me.

Regarding that article posted above: “We will make a large number of decisions before the end of May and will conclude the meetings at the end of June,”
So if 147 have already been admitted, then the rest will be a trickle of around 50 until END of June?
This article was written today so it must be up to date.

i agree 100%. i wish there wasn't this language gap between the inside information and what's being published.

thanks to all who tried to help me out. i couldn't access using any of your hyperlinks, however i believe i accessed the info via gadli's web address.

Harvard is not only difficult to get accepted at, it's also difficult to gather specific answers from.

Uhhgg!

Forgive me if this has been asked before -- I haven't read everything here -- but does all this mean that many more accepted students than usual have turned Harvard down??

just took AP econ today... the reason why harvard's so attractive is its scarcity... both in spots and in information!

off to a leadership banquet!

will check in later tonight in hopes of congratulating some!!

It's possible that Harvard is deliberately leaking false information to identify the source of leaks. Many companies, including Apple, have been known to do this, and Harvard wants to maintain its secrecy and integrity as much as they do. 144 and 147 are astonishingly close and specific; they seem to have originated from a single source. If this obviously high-level source (assuming said posters believe what they are reporting is true) is indeed inaccurate (as I suspect), he/she/it may be attempting to root out those individuals who distribute information like this unofficially.

Of course, this is completely ridiculous. The figure's probably either nonsense or true, but it's fun to speculate.

can anyone in the admitted students facebook group confirm a large number of people admitted from the waitlist joining the group??
[/quote]
Possibly the smartest post yet.

But wait! Will waitlisted students admitted by phone have the ability to join the Facebook group immediately?
