Official Harvard RD Class of 2018 Thread

Was everybody here contacted for an alumni interview?
I was never contacted and I’m wondering if that’s a bad thing.

Hi @WAAHHH, if you’re an international then that’s probably a ‘bad thing’.

Nope. I’m from the dfw area of Texas, which I would think would have plenty of alumni

@WAAHHH
No worries man. I was not contacted for an interview either (thankfully not an international applicant, noting against them but just hate how much harder it is for them!)

@matrixsurgeon, We meet again.

I got an interview, and I live in TX. Maybe it’s not that there was a lack of alumni, but a surplus of people applying in your area.

@my88keys
Yes we meet again! Haha.
I think I didn’t get one because of either less alumni in the area compared to applicants (possible) or just sheer bad luck (even more possible). As long as it is true that interviews are not a sign of admissions status, I don’t really mind.

@matrixsurgeon
Hey maybe it means they were so convinced they’d admit us they didn’t even need an interview! Kidding.

I’ve noticed you posting on basically every forum of all the schools I’m also applying to. Best of luck to you, and I’d love to know where you end up!

@WAAHHH
Haha, yea I guess I cast a pretty wide “reach net.” Maybe we’ll end up in the same school?

Maybe.
I think I’ve pretty much decided on Notre Dame though. I got in early action and since I’m not feeling too good about these upcoming decisions, I think that’s where I’ll end up

Okay, help. I’m from Mexico and I didn’t get an interview. Very bad thing?
:(

Anyone asked to submit additional examples of work after interview?

Nope, though I didn’t submit anything artsy in the first place. Have heard of friends handing additional art supplements in after their interview, though, so it’s not uncommon.

@kitkat522
I’d update them on that award.

There’s only a week to go now, so I’ve started a decisions thread. <a href=“*** Official Harvard University 2018 RD Decisions Only*** - Harvard University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1627558-official-harvard-university-2018-rd-decisions-only.html</a></p>

Woah, it’s really close now. I remember looking though those threads, can’t believe I am going to post on them very soon.

I think that we all should post on all of our college decision threads to provide the next class some context. I am waiting for April 1st and then I will post on every single one of them, including my Early ones. I remember looking through all the last years threads and they were somewhat useful too.

Question: can everyone login to the first result when you Google “Harvard Admitted User Portal”? The URL is college.harvard.edu/user I am able to login using my last name and the PIN they sent after they received my application, let me know if this is the case for you. For some reason, if I access it on my phone I can login, but if I try to access it on my computer I get directed to the admissions home page.

@eagleaustin96 yep, everyone can log in to that. It works on my computer; depending on your settings, maybe it’s an issue with your cookies not being on? That causes similar problems for me when I try to log in to other pages.

Actually I experienced quite the opposite. I was able to login from my laptop (windows using chrome) and see my application confirmation page, but when I tried the phone (Android) I was redirected.

@LAMuniv thanks for the input! Do you know when admissions will be released? The site just says “Late March.”
