Official Harvard RD Class of 2018 Thread

All Ivies release decision on the same day, March 27th. Not sure what time, though.

@eagleaustin96
It is usually 5pm EST. Brown is the only one that has confirmed that they have done it in “batches” in the past but other than that, most schools just end up doing it all at once at 5pm EST.

Officially one week away from D-Day. “The [decisions] are coming! The [decisions] are coming!”

(I love historical references for those that got it  )

This website is totally not assisting my anxiety levels

Guys, if you are an international student and didn’t get an interview, don’t worry. A schoolmate of mine applied 2 years ago with 1900 SAT, had no interview and got in… Don’t stop hoping for the best…

@shawnkingston haha sounds too good to be true. Did he have a hook?

Not really… We are from Tanzania in East Africa. He was no. 6 nationally in his grade 10 national exam and he started this charity club at school. Nothing else… @book05

If that sounds too good to be true, a friend of a friend got in with 1800 SAT and 31 ACT in the EA round this year… No interview either. @book05

@shawnkingston…seriously man?? are we talking about the same HARVARD university or a howard university…???

Someone from my school got in with 1800 SAT, but apparently there was a building on campus named after her grandparents, so…

ok now that is understandable…her grandparents might have been some tough donors to university or maybe some heavy-weight alumni. Well said, that alone carries a lot to have their grandson admitted…even if he has no gray matter.

Hahaha… its definitely harvard. Honestly, I know about 4 people who got into harvard and none of them had 2000 SAT. One of these people, an alumni at our school, told us we just need 1800. The rest of your efforts should be put on your essays. A great background story basically. And it doesn’t even have to be about hardships. One of my friends got into Stanford EA with a story about how praying helped him… Anything is possible…@dexter25

Does Harvard only practice selective interviews for internationals in areas where there are many applicants?

@shawnkingston I wrote about how I’m a germaphob and trid to clean a vacuum once. Does that tell a story…? O.o

Well, does it show your positive characters within it? If it does, its certainly a story from my point of view… A very funny one probably… @LAMuniv

Yeah, it mentions things that make me seem nerdy, sarcastic, and determined, so I guess so ^.^ I haven’t really had any major hardships, soI decided to take an every-day struggle and dramatize it to seem like an epic battle against a Bissell vacuum/my own inclination to stay as far away from dirty things as possible…

Sounds like an interesting story. Let’s hope the admission committee loved it. Good luck on the 27th. @LAMuniv

Haha thanks, you too  @shawnkingston

Heyy guys! I am also wondering if Harvard practices selective interviews for countries with “limited interviewers.” I live in Mexico and I’ve been trying to be confident because I did my best in my application, especially in my essays. I don’t have the most amazing academics when compared to all of the other applicants, but as far as my school goes, I think I’m up there up top in academics in my school. Harvard has been my dream since forever… but the fact that I didn’t get an interview is bumming me down horribly… does anyone know of any international (LIMITED INTERVIEWER COUNTRIES) applicant that has gotten in without an interview??? Just need some reassurance, I guess :frowning: I’m hoping you guys have heard of someone who has gotten in without an interview…

The trend is that only those applicants who get an interview get in or are waitlisted. This applies to only the limited interviews countries. But I guess someone had mentioned an exception just now, about someone in Tanzania…
