**General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:[ /b]
Just glad I got this whole college crap
over with. I still remember reading the harvard decision thread last summer on CC and being in awe at the people who got accepted, and equally in awe at ppl who got rejected, since back then, I never would've thought i'd even apply to harvard. CC taught me so much in terms of EC's and striving for my best. Hey, afterall, without CC, i would've never applied to harvard in the first place. This whole application process was really an eye-opening experience. I've done soo much trying to get in, and although i got rejected, I still have the tremendous amount of skills and experiences i learned along the way.

Hey, after all, college isn't life. Maybe you all will see my face 20 years from now on TV doing soemthing big!

[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White

[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: Standardized tests, Math/Science
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: Because, clearly, this whole female/minority/private school acceptance system for college in the US has gone wayyyy too far. In short, because I'm a white male from a public school in MA.
[] Is Harvard your #1 choice?: No.
[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I hate all this quota crap.

[] ACT: 35
[] APs: Uh, this is where it gets sad. Last year, took US History and Calc. AB and got 4's on both. This year, taking Macro, Micro, Psych, and US Gov (all online). To be fair, my school only offers the two that I took last year.
[] IBs: N/A
[] GPA, Weighted and Unweighted: 4.2/4.0

[] Number of Apps from Your School: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Umm, 1.
[] Other stats: National Merit Scholar, All-State Academic Team (top 10 in the state), but no major national awards, sent an art portfolio-it's good but surely not the best they'll see
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] ECs listed on app: Trained/Showed horses, Volleyball (captain and honorable mention all-conference this year, not recruited), FFA, NHS, Class President Jr. Year, Spanish Club, 4-H, Club Volleyball, Quiz Bowl, Studio Art (not a club, just a hobby; I sent a portfolio)
[] Job/Work Experience: Menial work in retail for about 1.5 years, but I quit this past summer so I wasn't employed when I applied.
[] Essays (subject and responses): I wrote about training my first horse and what I learned from it, etc. Nobody really read except my sister, who liked it. I liked it a lot too, I think it's some of my best work.
[] Teacher Recs: I only read one of them, and it was really good.
[] Counselor Rec: It was very complimentary, but it was kinda short and impersonal.
[] Interview (feel and general location): Pretty good, it was a guy that had just graduated. As we were talking, I thought it was pretty chill but when I shook his hand when I left it was all sweaty, LOL
[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] Optional Essay Submitted? No, I did send a letter detailing why it was my first choice and stuff like that.
[] State or Country: Iowa
[] School Type, Average Stats of School: Public, K-12 with only about 80 kids in the high school. It's in a rural area, mostly low income, no honors courses or anything, besides a couple AP's. I think I'm the first to ever apply to an Ivy League school.
[] Ethnicity: white
[] Income Bracket: middle class
[] Gender: female
[] Hooks: Well, the horse training thing is unusual, don't know if it's a hook. I'm from an area that's not too highly represented. Also, I did a summer college thing in architecture (my major) last year; I got A's in both classes and I think it maybe showed commitment to my interests...I dunno.
[] Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths: I really don't know, I guess just the things listed in 'hooks' Weaknesses: Low subject test scores (APs and SAT IIs), Weaker courseload compared to many
[li] Why you think you were accepted/wait listed/denied: Meh, who knows? Low test scores, probably.[/li][/ul][ b]Other Factors:**
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:

Well, this hurt at first, but then I got into Yale and it was better. Harvard was really my first choice, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for the waitlist...but I've got a couple good acceptances in my hands so it's not the end of the world. Also, this is copied from the Yale board, so sorry that everything's not uniform!

*Decision: Rejected *

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: NY
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Perceived Strengths/Weaknesses: Strengths would be grades which really aren't a strength at all for Harvard. Weaknesses would be ECs.
[] Why you think you were accepted/rejected/waitlisted: I knew I would be rejected because I really have nothing in my app that stands out.
[] Is Harvard your #1 choice?: It is in my "If I got in, I would go over anywhere else" sense but that's only because it is Harvard. However, I am far from devestated because I fully anticipated this.
[/ul]Other Factors:
General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Congratulations to everyone regardless of the decision!
