Official Harvard SCEA 2016 Applicants' Discussion Thread

10 more days! 10 more days! 10 more days!

Now…how to get through them…

My Harvard sweatshirts are near the front of my closet… I can see them from my bed. This is going to be a long ten days.

I’m from metro Atlanta. Dekalb county to be a tad more precise.

I’m from Barrow County.

9 days and a little under 2 hours!

Its so close, yet so far away! What have you guys been doing to pass the time?
And does anyone else have people constantly asking if you’ve heard yet or what you will do if you don’t get in?!

Yes! People ask all the time where I’m applying and why I didn’t get into school yet. And the worst part is when I tell them Harvard they say “oh you are definitely gonna get in. You are Val, best athlete in school, etc…” nobody understands how hard it is to get in and how many people with amazing stats get rejected.

^There are only 3 ppl on this planet knows that I applied: my counselor and 2 teachers.

And that’s exactly the reason why.

I’ve been playing mellow songs to drain my tears in the face of possible rejection. Eat more junk food, and study.

I’m counting down for my UPenn ED, Brown ED, and Stanford EA friends. Since Brown ED notifies on the 13th, my countdown will only be 2 days. :D

@Tennuggler. I’m facing the exact same situation!

@flyingtomato Your Jake and Amir reference made my night. I am obsessed with them.

I want to know if any of you are applying to any other IVY leagues immediately after the 15th Dec news from Harvard. If yes, which ones?

@espinlh: Yale, Princeton, and Wharton no matter what. Yale and Wharton would be my #2 and #3 choices.

I was trying to keep EA to H a secret, but cat got out of the bag. I don’t feel so good.

jackomelon: I just saw your post, and I am SO jealous of you right now. You are still in the running! And this is making me think that I…am not. :(

I have to write 8 pages of short fiction by tomorrow morning. I think this is going to be some sort of morbidly depressed anti-educational institution existential BS. “Sorry English teacher, it’s Harvard drama. You understand.”

and pylades. my problem exactly. Everybody…like seriously random sophomores that I barely know have straight up been stopping me in the halls like…did you get into Harvard? and my bratty friend who will probably get in somehow has managed to keep it semi- secret. kill me, please?

Princeton and Yale. I’ve heard that these 2 Ivy Leagues give the most financial aid.

I remember reading somewhere says that while most colleges look for something to reject an applicant, selective colleges look for reasons to accept him? what are some possible “reasons”

I’m thinking that an ordinary applicant with great scores and great EC (not outstanding) are usually defered because he or she is to be compared with the larger pool. Ppl accepted early have something admission ppl desperately want.

Well, to be frank, a lot of acceptances are based on what I like to call future endowment potential.

Jaysha and pylades, I have EXACTLY the same problem! I tried not to say anything, but it’s so hard. People always ask and ask, and once I told one person it all just spread like crazy. :</p>

^^What about socioeconomically disadvantaged ppl?

btw my # of posts are exactly half of urs

@jackomelon, you have to let us know if you get in!

good luck to all  9 days!
