Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2017

Are you guys submitting RD apps to other schools before Dec. 13? I think I’m just gonna wait.

I have to submit some of my regular decision apps before december 13th because of interview priority deadlines, scholarship considerations, and arts supplement deadlines

I’m not even going to start working on other apps unless I get deferred/rejected. It’s a gamble, but if it pays off… only one app ever. Anyway, I know all the other prompts I’ll have to do, so I have some ideas bouncing around. I’ll just have to write two or three supplement essays, and spread that out over ~10 colleges.

msteiny1212: I submitted one for scholarship consideration. I’ll submit the rest after Dec. 13 if I don’t get an early acceptance to H.

I’m not submitting any apps till after I find out…they’re all January 1 or later, and I wouldn’t submit all but maybe 2 or 3 if I’m accepted to Harvard. Though I’ve thought about essays and have some ideas…and can reuse my Harvard supplement for some lol…just so it’s not crunch time if (when) I end up applying to 8-10 more colleges. No point wasting the money for application fees and sending test scores until after I find out though.

I have to apply by December 1st for two for scholarships/priorities myself. The thing is that this anxiety is not conducive for finishing college apps at all

Not to mention the workload from school and ECs

hahahaha zhstkdblackbelt. I applied to Stanford early and yes, those were the ones that gave me trouble.

well i must submit for UC’s before the 30th…good thing I could just copy/paste my common app and harvard supp for the two UC essays haha (they fit the prompts exactly), cuz I’m really not in the mood of writing essays while anxiously waiting. Hopefully harvard doesn’t make me write 10 essays after Dec 13th =P

Yeah I’ve started some of them but I can’t focus when I know there’s a (tiny tiny) chance Ill be able to put them in the shredder come mid-December. For now, I’m trying to figure out where I can recycle my Harvard supp because I like it.

Countdown: 17 Days!

Today a teacher who wrote my LOR (a teacher I extremely respect and admire not just as a teacher but also as a person) asked me if I heard back from Harvard yet. Yeah, no pressure.

Yeah, I’ve kind of avoided those two teachers since the rec. When are you guys planning on giving Thank You notes to your LOR writers? I’ll probably wait until after I heard from Harvard, disregarding whether the news is good or not-good.

Countdown: 16 Days!

They accept 700 students out of 4000 for early right? How many out of those 700 are reserved for recruited athletes, academic all stars, and rich kids? 600 probably. So 100/3400 are our chances. 2.9% similar to RD. Yay!!!

@starktony826: I think a better statistic would be how many of the 700 are recruited athletes and rich kids (forget the academic all-stars). I’m pretty sure that to be accepted into Harvard, you need to be an academic all-star anyways.

Well…depends on what s/he meant by academic all-stars. If s/he meant international ____ olympiad gold medalist, then that’s pretty damn rare lol

@starktony826: Ugh. These statistics are killing my confidence.

I wouldn’t say it’s quite 600. Gibby or someone probably knows better than I, but I would bet it’s closer to 400 spots that are taken up off the bat due to legacies, etc. Not to say that makes it much easier or anything, but I think we can have a LITTLE more hope haha.

I read an interview with Dean Fitzsimmons in which he says that a little over 300 “well-lopsided” applicants, as he puts it, (i.e. recruited athletes, donors, etc.) are accepted…
