Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

Is it weird not to have received an interview request at this point? Granted I submitted my app on oct 31 but I live in a pretty well-off and genius-ridden part of New York…

@boxofdonuts: I’m also in New York, and my interviewer told me that she had to have all reports in by the 11th. Is it possible that you may have missed the request (i.e., it’s in the spam folder of your email, or you missed the call)? Domestic applicants are generally given interviews unless there are no interviewers in their area, so I wouldn’t stress out too much about this. If there are no interviewers are you, I’m sure that will not be held against you! :)

How far away were your interviewers? Mine is almost 200 miles away… sigh

@aranshghs‌: Haven’t had mine yet, but my interviewer is driving to a coffee shop about 4 minutes away from my house. She lives about 50 minutes away. She said that she prefers coming to the applicant, which I thought was very thoughtful of her! I have a friend who had an interview (for a different Ivy) that was a 5 hour drive away!

@frozens‌ oh my gosh! That’s so nice of her
I guess 2 and a half hours is better than 5! I’m super worried because it will be my first time driving in a big city :frowning:

@aranshghs‌: I know, it was so considerate! And good luck with your interview - and with driving there! I’m sure as long as you give yourself plenty of time to get there you’ll be just fine  When’s your interview?

I have definitely not received an email regarding the interview… How many of you were contacted by phone? I certainly was not called on my cell phone, but it’s possible my home phone was called although I’m sure I would have found out…

Do interviews only get sent out if all of your application materials are complete? I’m still waiting on my test scores. Maybe that’s why?

@Jellybae‌ no I don’t think that’s the reason! I got contacted before my SAT scores had arrived!
U can always call Harvard and ask why you haven’t been contacted, and also do remember that a interview isn’t guaranteed !

@PcollegegirlP‌ nah it’s fine. An interview won’t kill me

@boxofdonuts I’m NY as well (not the city) and I had everything in Oct 14th. No contact for an interview. @frozens did your interviewer mean that the entire state’s interviews had to be done by the 11th?

Is it about time to call Harvard and check up on this?

@Karabekian, I would call them.

When do SCEA decisions come out?

I haven’t heard back for an interview as of yet. I live in MA, so I assume there are plenty of interviewers. Should I call to double check at this point?

@WooTheDay‌ they say by the 15th December! But if you check out last years thread and the year before you can see that the decisions came out around the 13th!
I’m guessing they should come sometime in between 11th - 15th!
Earlier on in this thread we were talking about the decisions, u can check it out if u wish :-)

@235423‌ @Karabekian‌ Call admissions on Monday, when they’re open.

@Karabekian‌: She didn’t specify. Her email just said that she’d like to schedule our interview on/before November 10th because she had to turn in all of her reports on the 11th. It’s very possible that that’s just a requirement for my state/Harvard club
@Jellybae‌: I don’t think that having a completely finished application is necessary. I got my request about a week before both of my teacher recs were in! I wouldn’t stress about it :)

i really hope decisions come out the 11th

@harvard00‌ same here! The faster the better!

@235423‌ I am in the same boat as you in terms of interviewers. Let me know if you find out what to do!
