Official Harvard SCEA Class of 2019 Applicants Thread

My interview went extremely well. Lasted a little over two hours, and my interviewer got teary-eyed because she said I brought back memories of her undergraduate experience at Harvard. Sent her a follow-up thank you card today.

That’s great!
Over two hours?! That’s really long. Mine lasted about one hour, and it was a great fun time.

45 minutes for me. My interviewer just wasn’t very friendly and we had nothing in common. She also didn’t respond to my thank you email. she better write me a good review.

Yeah I did, applied to Cambridge for philosophy. I’m gonna PM you to find out what we could do in the meantime for our application. It is, after all, very likely we’ll get deferred

@LucasKovacs Have you had your interview? What sort of things do you have in mind regarding what you would do in the meantime?

@HobbitTon‌: Set up a little one-month project for yourself to make the time go by faster! I’m doing National Novel Writing Month this month, and it’s doing me worlds of good. Though it’s an old tradition of mine, I hesitated to do it this year for obvious reasons. I’m so glad I decided to go through with it. It really takes my mind off of things reminds me that there are other joys in life besides college :)

Also, what helped me was working on my other supplements. It helped me fixate less on Harvard and got me invested in other schools, as well.

My alumni interviewer didn’t contact me within the stated timeframe (ten days), so as instructed, I called him and left a voicemail. He never responded. -.- I’m currently waiting to hear back from my local Harvard club, who is arranging the interview and whom I e-mailed about the situation.

@messibarca‌ I’m a Canadian citizen but I live in China and go to an international school here. I don’t think a lot of Canadians are applying though. 0.0

Apart from some other Ivies and U.S. schools, I’m gonna apply to UofT and McGill for my safety/match schools. What about you?

Looking through my application status, and everything is received except a “college transcript”…I’m aware that this is a really stupid question, but that just applies for transfer students right?

@HobbitTon‌ well idk how to make a Month go by faster… But I know how u can at least make a day go by faster! Yesterday I spent the day reading last years SCEA thread! I didn’t read all of it just the last 30 pages… It was intense. Really cool, and nerve wrecking.(it was about a few days before decisions came out…) lemme know if u have any other way of making time pass by faster!!
(I was so desperate that I even googled how to make time pass by faster lmao)
@nomatterwhat‌ they email us On the email address we provided them with! :)

@PcollegegirlP‌: HAHAHAHA I did the exact same thing! I read the the thread from the week before decisions.

Is anyone applying from France/Germany/Kurdistan/Zimbabwe ?

or from Pluto ? just wondering dear fellows

Why can’t they release decisions faster? I’m like freaking out.

@calliemoon11 After your counselor submitted your first quarter grades, could you able to see it under
common App --> Harvard --> Recommender and FERPA --> Counselor --> Optional Report ?

@PoorKid41‌: They haven’t been sent yet, but I’ll let you know!

@calliemoon11 Thank you! I think they are considering you (Congrats ! ), otherwise they wont bother to require other material for you. But meanwhile, they might also have some concern for your transcript.

@calliemoon11‌ hahah!
If they asked u for ur first quarter grades, that’s an amazing sign! Good job!
So will your school submit your transcript (grades) or will they fill in some sort of form on the college app?
Will they submit it online Or what?

@Ninopedia‌ ya same. I am applying to reach colleges in the US and safeties in Canada

I don’t even need to find anything to keep me occupied this month, since I have so many essays for other applications to work on! Harvard is just pure crapshoot for me. I have pretty mediocre ECs, and looking back, there are already some things I would change about my Harvard essays. Oh well :S

I’m in a region where I need to wait for Harvard to contact me themselves to set up an interview. Anxiously awaiting.

@PoorKid41‌ @Melissawilliams‌ Thank you!! I sure hope it’s a good sign! While my grades aren’t abysmal, I do know that they aren’t the strongest part of my application, so that’s likely a factor.
