@Karabekian @PoisonIvy20 I’m applying to Yale, Columbia, and UPenn RD! However, Harvard is my first choice because I love Boston, love the Harvard campus, and when I visited I just fell at home. I could honestly see myself living there. The students were wonderful, I loved the dorms (one of my friends goes there so I got to stay overnight ). Everything about Harvard was perfect. Yale, Columbia, and UPenn all had wonderful qualities as well, but I know I’d chose Harvard over any school in a heartbeat. It felt so me, so I’m sure I’ll be 100% heartbroken when I’m rejected.

@abriboi - Boston is a huge lure for me. I love big cities. That said, if I got into Yale I’d definitely have to give it some thought too… I think Yale owes its stronger sense of community to its New Haven bubble, after all. Deciding between the two might be just a matter of whether or not a sense of community is important/a priority for you.

I know college is what you make of it (and I know I’d be fortunate to get into either), but I keep hearing that Yale students are happier than Harvard students and less stuck-up.

Anyway, at such big universities it’s always possible to find your group of friends and have fun how you want.

All will be well. Harvard is currently my #1, but I’m confident that I will fall in love with whatever school I go to.
Hopefully you will, too!

Back to the application— how are you guys using your supplement? Essay? Activity sheet/resume? I’m not exactly sure what to put in, although I’m fairly certain that I’m not leaving it blank. I feel like I have a lot to say and to share, but I’m not sure how elegantly I can do that in the sup.

After much thought, I’ve decided to apply to Harvard through SCEA. Good luck to everyone applying to Harvard ! I’ll be majoring in Computer Science if I get in. Cheers ! :-)

@abriboi : I’m using it for an essay. My Common App essay is pretty serious, so the supplement essay is more lighthearted, but I think it still shows some important aspects of my personality

I’m sending a supplement essay as well. Lighthearted common app, serious supplement, so kinda the opposite of @frozens

@abriboi I’m also sending a supplemental essay! But unlike both @Karabekian and @frozens both of mine are pretty lighthearted, but that’s just my personality, and our counselors stressed that we let our voices shine through.
If you’re still unsure of what to use the supplement for, my advice would be to ask your college advisors and people close to you. Or, if you think that you’d wanna write an essay, ask yourself, “what makes me tick?” and write about that. Good luck!

This thread hasn’t been posted in for 5 days. That is a shame. How is everyone doing on the applications?

@HobbitTon I wouldn’t worry about that LOL. Guarantee about a month before the deadline this thread will be booming with questions, concerns, and just overall nervousness and excitement! (Myself included) haha

@PoisonIvy20 I’m beyond nervous already xD.

@theluckylinguist Very true, MA rocks ! Well yes, I couldn’t be happier in France (but I still want to study in the US) You should totally come and visit ! Well I think I will apply to french universities once I’ll get my US results What about you ? Are you considering other places around the world ?

Actually I might come to Boston this fall to visit other colleges but I’m not sure
Btw, how is the whole commonapp/Suppessay process going ? I am a bit overwhelmed by the amount of writing !

@arielle17 I’m applying to UPMC!

Is anyone having trouble finding the supplemental section for Harvard in the common app?

@abriboi Really ?? Wow that’s great ! Wait so are you american ? Or french ? Because if not this is the first time I meet a UPMC’s international applicant (do they have some kind of international programs ?)

@TwoTravelin : Nope, when I go to my CA dashboard and click on Harvard College, it shows up. Is yours not coming up at all?

Hey guys! I’ve been missing in action because of my internship and school, but I’m finally getting back to this thread. Starting the Common App is exciting!

National Merit Scholarship information is starting to come out today! Crossing my fingers.

Hello guys. I am an international student. Is there any grounds to considerate for students who are in international level, like being “international master” in particular area and being grand master?

@arielle17 I can’t :(( As much as I would like to, studying internationally is just not a possibility for me. But I do plan on studying abroad often! I hope that you’ll be able to come to Boston! It really is such a unique place.

As for the supplements and common app, really well! I finished filling out the Common App and I had written all my supplements during the summer (I wrote one essay each week, so I was done by the end of summer) and now I’m having some of my teachers review them. I’ll be done applying by October 1st! What about you?

Could someone please chance me for HARVARD SCEA? I know that nothing is a guarantee for undergraduate admission, but regardless, it can still give me some perspective.
