Official Harvard Transfer Thread

Um, last year people got their email decisions around May 20th.

Has anyone else received their PIN yet?
I was so paranoid that my application got lost in the mail... Now I hope they have received everything else (recs, transcripts).

if you sent it in on 2/15, they will process it in the next week or two. i called today and asked the lady, so don't worry! ..yet haha. good luck everyone =)

Have you tried requesting your PIN by sending an email to the automated system? I sent my app on 2/15 and according to my status page they just processed it in their system yesterday.

So I'm probably obsessing, but yeah I need diversions :)

I am currently a freshman at the top University in Scotland, UK. My GPA is 4.33 (taking first and second yr courses) and My UK A-LEVELS are Economics - A, Maths -A, Chemistry - A, Physics - A

I took the SAT I but I couldn't seem to get a good grade: 1910/2400!

I have attended Harvard Summer School taking EC192 and EC101 and achieved a B+ (although wasnt really working hard as it was summer)

I have awsome recomendations from Harvard Summer Prof, and my current Uni Professors + my High school teachers.

My EC's include, the being on the comittee of the economics society and halls of residents, learning mandarin chinese outside of the university, playing varsity field hockey + others.

My main doubt is with my SAT score; however my grades show that I achieve the top marks in my school and university courses, but I just cant get my head around the SAT!

I currently hold an unconditional transfer offer to the London School of Economics (LSE) but am hoping Harvard might give me a shot?

Any comments?

Many Thanks

^your last name is cheng <------ CHINESE no doubt?
you scored a 1910? <------that's bad
you got B+ at summer school?<-----that's not good
the rest looks great :)

I was more hoping for comments on my chances of admission. Something along the lines that would indicate whether I have a shot of harvard or if i should give up?

Many Thanks - Im actually 1/2 Scottish and 1/2Chinese and have lived in Scotland, Hong Kong, and Cambridge, UK.

Major: Film Studies
Minor: History
Reccomendations: Both excellent.
Essays: Quirky and well-written, though decidedly light-hearted...I don't believe in divulging my deepest, darkest secrets or personal tribulations to a committee of men and women I've never met.
Strength: Who knows? Probably my good posture and ability to color-coordinate.
Weakness: I refused to declare myself a URM (which seems more stupid than noble in retrospect). Also, I was so careful to temper my conveyance of how much I dislike UCB in my "reasons for transferr" essay that I might have come off as lukewarm about wanting to transfer at all.

^competitive Harvard applicant if I ever saw one.

i agree. but i have total respect for film, as i am also in the industry. i'm just not studying it formally. best of luck though!

Has anyone actually gotten their Access Pin codes?

I assume all my application did was write a check to Harvard.

@ Chanchito

From what i've heard, Access Codes are given once the application is processed. I have not received mine and i'm assuming you have not received yours (by your question) - I sent mine on the 13th and they recieved it on the 14th so I know they got it.

However, mine is missing my high school transcripts, which are being sent over this week so I'm making a wild guess that may be the reason why I have not received it yet.

PM me if you would like to go into this a little further.

Please guys evaluate my chances:)

Umass - I'm pretty sure your SATs will destroy your chances at Harvard and Columbia.
