8 rejections, 3 acceptances, and 2 waitlists so far. I know I remember reading someone was interested in calculating the CC acceptance rate, so here you go.

I’ve a slightly bizarre question. I’ve been told that the vast majority of rejections are sent out at approximately five; I have yet to receive my e-mailed decision. If I may ask, then did those who were added to the waitlist receive their notifications at somewhere around seven? How about those who were rejected? I’m aware that timestamps are present, but these indicate your time of posting - the two, then, don’t necessarily correlate.

I was just wondering if anyone could provide me with further information. I’d be immensely grateful, as I and another friend of mine really feel like we’re waiting for Godot.

^I haven’t gotten an email either. My waitlisted friend received her email very shortly after 5:00.

Decision: Accepted

OBJECTIVE

OTHER:

[li] Applied for Financial Aid?: yes, will apply
[/li]

[li] Intended major?: biology, classics, astronomy
[/li]

[li] State (if domestic applicant): NC
[/li]

[li] School Type: independent
[/li]

[li] Ethnicity: white
[/li]

[li] Gender: M
[/li]

[li] Income Bracket: 100k
[/li]

REFLECTION:

[li] Strengths: GPA, SAT scores, science and music extracurriculars
[/li]

[li] Weaknesses: SCHEDULE. It is very hard to get into AP courses in my school - that’s why I don’t have many before my senior year.
[/li]

Congratulations to the accepted!

STILL NO EMAIL? Btw, I was rejected at all the other ivies so I am not expecting good news at the moment.

Don’t worry - I’ve known individuals to be accepted into Harvard and to, unfortunately, lack luck elsewhere. We must all keep our chins up for the moment. I too am struggling to avoid vivisecting myself, but motivation is a must!

Decision: Rejected

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 800 CR 790 M 720 W
[] ACT: 35 (36,35,35,35)
[] SAT II: 800 Spanish, 800 Math II, 780 Literature, 760 Physics
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 2/168
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): 4 APUSH
[] Senior Year Course Load: Best available (which isn’t that great, in the interest of full disclosure)
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): ffffft. I live in Podunk, middle-of-nowhere. I hadn’t even heard of those things until I found this site.
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Math Club (president), Quiz Bowl (captain), Academic Decathlon (captain), V/JV track and field, class officer, National Honors Society (VP), SkillsUSA (this club is stupid - don’t ever join)
[] Job/Work Experience: Detasseling seed corn for 4 summers, grocery store 15 hours/week
[] Volunteer/Community service: Translator on mission to El Salvador, church service team for 8 years
[] Summer Activities: Working in the cornfields mostly.
[] Essays: Common app was pretty good. I didn’t do the additional one.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Pretty generic. None of the teachers at my school know how to right a really good recommendation letter. I got 5 of them, and sent the “best” 2.
[] Counselor Rec: Didn’t see.
[] Additional Rec: Didn’t bother.
[li] Interview: Okay, this guy was a high-powered lawyer, and he asked me a veritable colon-load of politically charged questions. He spent most of the interview explaining his take and not listening to mine. On top of that, he not only leaned to the right-hand side of the teeter-totter, but kind of fell in the surrounding mud. Anyway, definitely my worst interview.
[/li]

[/ul]Other[ul]
[] State (if domestic applicant): Nebraska
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: Cruddy public. Surrounded on 3 sides by cornfields.
[] Ethnicity: White as a snowball.
[] Gender: XY
[] Income Bracket: 120K
[li] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): None.
[/li]

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: Not sure, maybe the fact that I’m from Nebraska? It’s a stretch.
[] Weaknesses: Interview, extracurriculars.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I haven’t been focused on college admissions since I exited the womb, like others I’ve seen here. I applied to Harvard mostly for the novelty, not because I thought I stood a hamburger’s chance at a Weight Watcher’s meeting.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Washington and Lee University, with Johnson scholarship covering full tuition, room, and board. (attending)
Case Western Reserve University with 30K/year merit scholarship
University of Tulsa with full tuition, room, and board.
Truman State University with full tuition, room, and board.

[/ul]General Comments:
As you can see, I applied mostly to colleges where I had a chance graduating debt-free. At Harvard, I would have been expected to contribute $35,000/year and that’s just not worth it, especially since I plan to go to medical school. Anyway, congratulations to those accepted and I hope you enjoy your 4 years.

Harvard snail mailed decisions this AM to those who opted for it on the common app…like I did…I want something to frame, good or bad! You had two options, email or snail mail…

DeepSea, check your common app…you probably checked letter in the mail option…I expect mine tomorrow being on the East coast.

I was under the impression that the letter-in-the-mail option was just another item (i.e., that one would still receive the e-mailed notification).

Decision: Rejected

[/ul]General Comments: congrats to everyone who got in. its quite the accomplishment and you should be proud! to my fellow rejectees, dont fret, im sure we will all end up somewhere good.

I still haven’t gotten an email … checked my Common App, and I told them to notify me by email. My email’s been confirmed, too. I wonder what’s up.

[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: ECs. My one semi-excuse for weak ECs was I moved from CT to MI halfway through high school (start of junior year), so it was nearly impossible to get leadership positions as a junior, the time when most applicants acquire them.

Although, the primary reason I applied wasn’t because I desperately wanted to go or thought I would be a good fit, it was for the hell of it haha, so to hell with it! [] Additional Rec: Was definitely good
[] Interview: Well, my interviewer (a professor) was an hour late to the interview; he apparently stayed to talk to students after class for an entire hour. He was also sort of pretentious, but I enjoyed his stories about Harvard.

[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Essays weren’t too well-liked. Given the extra-limited number of opportunities to shine in Harvard’s application, I probably made a tactical error in the subject of my supplemental essay.
