Official Harvard University RD Class Of 2017 Thread

I sent in my app before December 15th, and still haven’t gotten contacted for an interview while a classmate of mines has… should I be worried O.o? I’m sure my app wasn’t THAT bad to not get considered for an interview, haha >_<.

There’s a review process for who gets selected to interview? From my impression (it may just be my area), everyone who applied gets an interview. I honestly don’t see how a school could process my file including my test scores, forward my application to my local Harvard Club, and have them review it after the holidays (I submitted January 1st) in time for the interview contact I got January 3rd. I think it’d be much less of a pain on some level to just send a list of who to contact and sort through the list at a regional admissions office later.

There’s no review process. If you’re in an area with a high density of Harvard alums, just wait.

Alrighty, thanks guys! Just wanted to confirm :P.

Anyone else have several Bs?

Yes. UW gpa is ~3.65.

I’m in the UK and I’ve just been offered an interview.

PleaseSHoP, Harvard admits students who have unweighted GPAs less than 4.0. A couple of Bs over the course of four years isn’t generally going to keep someone out.

No Bs, but I did have low test scores! Grades and scores won’t be the deciding factor in admission or rejection, though. At least…that’s what I’ve been told. lol

Guys just know that by even applying to Harvard, it means that you have very good credentials over your peers. That said, don’t be discouraged to receive a rejection… and plus I heard that the acceptance rate for RD is going to be like 3% or something lol… Come on Harvard, stop accepting so many early applicant! lol

My GPA is really ugly (like a 3.65/3.7ish unweighted), but I have a 34 ACT, 16 AP exams by the time I graduate, 800 Math II, and 790 Physics subject test. I also have a successful company—over 4.5 million people use my products, and I have hired and managed two full time (adult) employees. I know this is super, super brief, but does anyone have any feedback as to whether or not I realistically even have a shot?

EDIT: please, please know that I’m not trying to be one of those kids that is really just posting to brag… I honestly might have seen only one or two other people without hooks get into Harvard with a GPA like mine.

^With my nonexistent authority, I’d say your chance is better than mine, and I have a 4.0 UW. I don’t think GPA is everything. Your life will speak for itself… Just my 2c.

Everyone has a shot.

^Proof again why “Chance me” requests are meaningless.

You get “everyone has a shot” to “you should go to community college”

I actually am Isaac Newton…so erm. Chance me?

^ no chance Mr.Newton. Community college it is.

I cured cancer, but my SAT is only 2390 and my GPA is only a 3.9999!!! Do I have ANY shot?? Or is it CC for me?

That was gold.

Oh lord, that was perfect. Thanks, grayson!
