sexicani - I'm sorry to hear that you were rejected. Did you get a letter today? An e-mail? Are you international or local? You are the first person that I have heard of who has gotten anything from Haverford RD.

lol thanks guys. i got a letter today in the mail and i live in the United States. I didn't expect to hear back this soon either. Good luck to everyone else!!

Everyone who applies to Haverford has a wonderful shot at being accepted. If you were honest about who you are in your application and showed an interest, there cannot be anything in your way of getting in other than there being too many fantastic applicants and Haverford needing to maintain its small size. I was a bit worried beforehand that standardized test scores would hold me back, but they're just one factor in a pool of many, and I think Haverford cares more about the character of the person than their capabilities on a saturday morning.
Best of luck to all of you RDers! Honestly, these last few days are the killer. My suggestion: pass the time by watching rented movies.

[]Essays: Main essay -- Pretty good. I wrote about the connection I feel between academic/intellectual success and creative expression (eg. music, guitar, poetry), and discussed how these were related to my late diagnosis of ADD.
Supplemental -- Good as well, probably better than my main essay. I wrote about my fairly clique-y town, and growing up with one foot in the sports crowd and one foot in the "artsy" crowd, and how I grew to be confident, making both sides of me into one identity. I also related it to how comfortable I felt at Haverford during the Student-Athlete weekend.
[]Teacher Recs: One from social studies and one from Physics. I've had the same Physics teacher for three classes over two years, so we have a strong relationship.
[]Counselor Rec: Okay. He's a really good guy, but he's new this year and didn't know me as well as most counselors would.
[]Supplementary Material: Poem that was selected to be in the online newsletter of a writing website.
[li]Hook: Recruited athlete. Also, I geared everything in my application to what I plan on studying, physics and astronomy. I took the Physics SATII, took two years of Physics and had the teacher write my rec, did an Independent Study in astronomy, and personally met with a professor at Haverford about it. I think that sort of thing may help.
[/li]

Aie... I had myself stressed and psyched out to an almost unhealthy point. Parting words: if you get in, come! Seriously. The speed limit on most of campus is 13 miles per hour. The signs look awesome.

for you guys that got in already was the financial aid good (if you already heard about it) cause if i get in that will pretty much be the only factor keeping me from going there :)

Well now he's 3-0-1. He's in at his state honors college with merit money which would make it just ~$2,800/year tuition. However he really liked Haverford so he'll stay on the WL.

[ *]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?:[ /list] not really bragging but i feel better now. i was bummed out about college and considering it had a 9 percent acceptance rate i feel baller. but for all who got waitlisted -- have hope. rejected, screw haverford and be baller wherever you go. next year people, scores and all don't mean everything. while my ranks and everything went up, i never updated haverford and got in. make sure your story is awesome when you present it in the essays and do something in your community. a college wants a good person, not just a good student.

Waitlisted. Kind of annoyed because it was a sort of "backup that is also a good school" but whatever. I think I screwed myself...I didn't call for an interview and I told the soccer and track coaches that I was looking at Bowdoin, Amherst, and Pomona as my top choices. Dammm
