Official HS Class of 2007 Harvard Applicant Roster

Orrican/SCEA/political science + middle east history

um, actually. harvard has EA. the policy is that you can't apply to another PRIVATE college if you apply EA, but you are allowed to apply to any PUBLIC college (i.e. - Rutgers University, state university of NJ) under EA or any other non-binding application procedure.

Where did you hear that?

The general idea for SCEA policy is to prevent an early crazy; i.e., early people applying to HYS to increase their chances. I think you can just write EA for harvard as it's understood as SCEA. And yes you can apply early to certain other publics; I know you can apply to rolling admissions independently, and also SUNY and Rutgers, not sure about other publics.

on the harvard website lol read it more carefully. i didn't really get it at first either

Harvard does not have EA, just SCEA. Actually, if you apply SCEA, you may apply to your own state university if it's rolling. You may not apply to other rolling schools (including other state schools) unless their decision comes after Harvard's SCEA decision. You may not apply EA to any other schools.
A word of caution ... be very careful ... follow the guidelines of any school that you are applying to via SCEA, EA, or ED.

Since lablondie isn't sure if he/she is applying to Harvard and Waterfall didn't follow the guidelines for posting (omitted major, SCEA/RD), they have both been replaced by orrican on place number 5 and lackadaisy on place number 7. We got the first magic 8 complete then.

im going to harvard. class of '10!!

but honestly. do yourselves a favor and dont dwell. this thread is insane. i applied to yale early, my dream school for the longest time. and i seriously was obsessed with it and this website. i was defered and then denied at the end. it hurt, but i got into every other school i applied to. i honestly put the most time and effort into my yale app and my other apps i completed the day they were meant to be postmarked ( procrastination is a biatch...i dont recommend doing this). So just have a goal in mind but dont let it become the focus of your life as i did. haha i put coundowns in my profile and all sorts of nonsense. the college admissions process is such a crap shoot. as i have compare my admissions with my friends. this is most especially true with the ivies and other highly selective schools. i wish you all the best of luck. but whatever happens will happen and it will all be for the best.

i must respectfully disagree with twinmom. unless she knows something that is not addressed on the website. here's the following from the harvard admissions' website:

May students apply to other early programs if they apply Early Action to Harvard?

"Generally, no. Students applying to Harvard under the Early Action program are not ordinarily permitted to apply early elsewhere in the fall, either under Early Action or Early Decision programs. Harvard will rescind its offer of admission to a student who does so.

Students are allowed to apply in the fall to public institutions under non-binding rolling or Early Action programs, and they may apply to colleges under Interim Decision programs, which inform applicants of admissions after January 1. They may also apply in the fall to any institution under it Regular Action program, and to foreign colleges and universities on any application schedule.

After students receive notification from Harvard's Early Action program (around December 15), they are free to apply to any institution under any plan, including binding programs such as Early Decision II."

as you can see, harvard makes its policies very clear.
