i dont think so but maybe u should take the SAT2 as well. they might also send u a taped oral proficiency test to ur school (some EDers got it, some didnt, not sure how it works)

Yes, you can do Wharton Finance through Wharton, but the Huntsman Program allows you to complete a second degree (intl. studies) and continue a language for a handful of extra credits. It is a lot easier to complete the second degree through the Huntsman Program because it eliminate some of the Wharton requirements. The Huntsman Program also has a much more thorough liberal arts requirement which is a benefit of the program. It allows you to explore the college to a fuller degree.

tupac,
i dont think they will completely neglect your application but spanish is also a very seletive language in terms of admission...it depends on what you get on the SAT II. coz you might just have a bad day during the APs

lishnik21 , are you applying for huntsman?

btw...i want to correct my mistake. it's huntsmanite not huntsmanian

I was accepted huntsman ED. It seems that most who got accepted received the oral prof. tape about 15 days before the decision was made. From talking w/ a current student, it seems that the tape is used in placement (maybe in decision making too).

As part of the packet w/ the tape, they sent a break down of target languages for the class of '05 - '09. Of the 160 currently studying as Huntsman Scholars, about 25% were in spanish, 25% in french, and the other 50% scattered in single digits over the other 10 target languages.

One would have to think that the # of applicants goes hand in hand with those percentages.

thks pennbrat! i thought chinese has a great percentage too...i have the info somewhere when i visited huntsman so! i will post it when i find it.

is an AP score more important than a SAT2 score? i got an 800 on the sat, but i dont take the ap test until the end of this year. would that hurt my chances?

wah, i thought chinese was a majority too, like around 25% too. argh!

umm, anyone have any idea how hard the oral proficiency thing is? cuz i'm really good writing, but i'm not good at speech. I'm considering doing Spanish. But if this oral-proficiency tape is a killer, I might have to scratch that.

The tape is 15 minutes. It has 5 questions, each w/ a 3 minute response. They aren't "hard" questions, but talking for 3 minutes requires a certain amount of comfort in the language.

hey i'm a huntsman RD too.. anyone know when we will get our tapes? feb? march?

i am assuming late feb/early march

Hey, I'm applying huntsman rd from Florida. Target language: spanish

just had a question. . . . do u think my strong ec involvement with spanish honor society will be significant, or do they not really care for ec involvment with the language?

depends on how substantial that involvement was and how much you showed that on your application

i think they are more looking for your passion in language and international studies.
i found the break down for all the languages...i will put it up shortly

hmm...any news?

man, i was going to apply to huntsman but my language skills are not close to par with what they are expecting so meh.

I applied RD to the Huntsman Program for Japanese (no, I'm not Japanese hehe). Huntsman sounds like a great program!! Looking forward to the decisions coming out before too long... By the way, I heard from some admissions people from UPENN that they tend to defer most people who apply ED to Huntsman because they want the best possible pool to select the applicants from. One question, though, do the people here who got into the program ED know if the tape is part of the application process or merely something you have to do after getting accepted? Thanks and good luck to everyone :-)

I think they admitted EDers to Huntsman so now there are 26 more spots! good luck to everyone! did anyone get an interview?

Anyone gotten tapes yet? (for RD; I haven't)
