Haha, same Math- easy. Writing- ok. pretty ok. Reading- daed (however I hope to get an 800 in math and writing and a 650+ in reading).
This is actually my second SAT. Trying for the DukeTip programā¦again (I got a 1,600 last year, which did not qualify).
Hope hope hope to God this year iām going to be above 2,100. I took a total of 14 practice tests and all were pretty good.
@Tennistigerā - SAME. Then I donāt have to worry about falling short of a 2300 because of reading. Itās mainly my writing thatās going down, thoughā¦and I havenāt been practicing essaysā¦this will be fun.
Goal for Saturday: 2400 (lol who am i kidding)
Realistic: 2300 (probably 800 CR / 750 M / 750 W)
because the essay consistently screws me over
and because i consistently make stupid mistakes in math
Trying to get 2300, bombed my November SAT and hoping to redeem myself. Still frustratingly in the very very low 700ās for CR (can drop to 680-700 on a bad day) no matter how much iāve practiced. My vocabās much better but for the passages i still get to the point where im down to two and i choose the incorrect one >.<
For Math i hope i donāt make dumb mistakes ( -1 on the november SAT gave me a freaking 750). And for Writing Iām trying to get as close to 800 as possible (got a 10 in novemeber for essay but canāt seem to do better than a 10)
My Writing MC is so inconsistent! on the PSAT, I got a perfect 80, then 2 weeks later on the actual SAT i got -7!
Hoping for 800 math, 720-750 CR, 780-800 Writing to pull through but iāll need some luck to pull throughā¦ gulp.
@fcm951ā - In the exact same boat; I got an 80 on the PSAT writing section too and a few 800s when I first started taking practice tests, but now I get anywhere from 3 to 6 wrongā¦not to mention, I havenāt practiced essays at all
Iām a veteran of the May and November 2014 SATs, and I hear you @fcm951 and @glasshours; I got a 78 on PSAT Writing and a 71 MC subscore. The PSAT must be easier or I was better prepped for the PSAT.
I am taking this SAT in california! Is the January sat CR usually easier?
First SAT! Looking to break 2200 on my first try!
Are there 2 January SAT threads?
@albert69ā I think soā¦
Anyway Iāll need to start researching more examples soon. What are the best examples that usually work with almost all prompts? Iām looking for a few history related ones.
@āTennistiger
I use Alfred Nobel - he is not as overly-used as Einstein and Steven Jobs, yet still is a versatile example (Henry Dunant is another good one).
I also use Scipio Africanus, the general who defeated Hannibal during the 2nd Punic War.
@Viaza915ā
Definitely books first, I would say work on the section you did worst on when you took the psat, and once you master that one continue on to a different section. I took the SAT for the first time in December and got a 2280. 800 CR 800 writing and a life ruining 680 in math. Iām in calc right now and Iām sure the reason I did so badly is the fact that Iāve forgotten the topics the SAT tests, if youāre the same, make sure to pay special attention to math. Ultimate grammar guide by Eliza Metzler for writing, DR. Chungs for math (itās much harder than the real thing), and CR is something you just kind of have to have an innate ability in, No SAT books really help, but try reading a lot of classics and direct hits also helps your vocabulary.
@GreatGatsbieā thanks! Iāll definitely look into those!
Canāt wait to take the SAT this Saturday! (Said no one ever)
Is it true that the January SAT has the highest curve? Thatās what Iāve heard!
im hoping for a 2250. 680-700 CR, 750-770 M, and 800 W. This is probably my last time taking the test, so ill be extremely bummed should i get under a 2200
@jdschooled5 I hope so!
Test day is so close, I can already feel the anxiety

Iāll be really anxious to know how I did, and Iām sure we all will be. Once we have a consensus on a bunch of answers, we can predict the curve.
