Welcome. I would like to issue a decree that we all motivate and wish each other on this upcoming SAT. It will be a hard battle for all of us. But, we can make a vision for ourselves. We are almost there. Our studying, or lack of it, has paid off. We still have a lot of time to study (slackers like me.).

Post your goal for this next SAT below and give some kind words to the community.

*SAT Goal
*Why you want that goal.
*What you did/are doing to get that goal.
*How you're going to get it.
*An SAT tip based on CR, M, W, essay...
*Fun fact.

*1950+
*Beat my brother (I’m only a sophomore) and prepare for Junior year.
*Studied a lot of math. Studied a lot of CR. Working on WR. Studying a lot this winter break.
*I’m going to show up to the test center with an awesome attitude. I’m going to have slept a lot the night before. I’m ready.
*On the CR section, every CORRECT answer MUST be supported by the text! There like it?
*Less than 400 people per SAT test date score a 2400.

-2400
-Bragging rights to my classmates and parents, much higher chance of admission at Ivies
-Critical reading is my weak section, so I’m reviewing Direct Hits for Vocab and practicing Passages(which have been done well on my 1st 3 practice tests, but I got 6 wrong on my 4th)
-Unlike in practice,I’ll use the extra 10-15 leftover after Math sections to check for stupid mistakes since apparently -1=/=800 in math. Writing is basically Grammar, and I’m a Grammar Nazi, and AcademicHacker’s method should guarantee me at least an 11 on the essay. Hoping for a curve of -2 on CR, but will be prepared for -1(Hopefully)
-In passages, all answers are generally restatements of the text and even interpretive questions don’t go too far from the text.
-I’m the only person at my school in several years to get a 240 on the PSAT

perfect 2400 as a sophomore (170/170 on multiple choice, 12 on essay)
*beat a friend’s sophomore brother (who is at CalTech btw), he got a 2400, but not perfect. I thought, if he did it as a sophomore, so can I.
*No math prep, already content with M. Just writing and critical reading.
*Don’t mess up

A 2400 would be nice, but who am I kidding? 2250 is much more reasonable.

Well, the 2400 would be nice because it’s a perfect score. But my other goal would suffice, because I would actually be content with it. It seems like a perfectly high score for me, and I only have to improve by approximately 50 points. Plus, it would shut my parents up, for once.

Vocabulary. Vocabulary. Vocabulary. Checking my answers. Again and again. Um, and a lot of speed practices, to make sure I have enough time to even check my answers.

Oh, and I’ve been making sure that I’m not making super stupid mistakes. Yeah, life lesson: the radius of a circle does not equal the square root of its circumference.

Well, I’m probably going to come up with a no-brainer. If you come across a vocab word you don’t know, try to connect it to a word you do know. That should have saved me from one question. (Canonical … really.)

I ditch my cardigans and dresses for sweats and Uggs on test days. I also completely avoid makeup, or otherwise I’ll be focusing on my obnoxious eyelashes the entire time.

well the past 10 sats I have gotten 2400…some were perfect and some weren’t. Most were vocabulary errors. The main thing is the essay, but I am taking world history and most topics match world history events.

*2400, but really maybe 2300+
*Because I got 2000+ as a sophomore and am spending my winter break from 8:30-5:30 doing SAT stuff?
*Winter break stuff. It really sucks because now, with every book I read, I check to make sure the subject-verb stuff correspond properly.
*Staring at the wall.
*Don’t sleep.
*I’m bored. :/

*2000s
*Prove to myself that I can reach my goal. :]
*I’m going to finish up the Princeton Review SAT overview book in the next day or two. Hope to finish 2 mathbooks and 1 critical reading workbook by the end of winter break.
*Improve my endurance for the test and try not to mess up!
*Work on questions involving only one passage on dual passage critical reading sections and then go back to questions involving both passages.
*SAT no longer stands for anything in particular after its meaning was changed from Scholastic Aptitude Test –> Scholastic Assessment Test –> SAT I: Reasoning Test

Question: Direct Hits worked well for practice tests 1, 2, and 3, but not for 4(which has never been administered). Do you think it will help with tests 5-10(which have also not been adminstered?

*SAT Goal: 2400
*Why you want that goal:I want to prove that i’m smart and I can have a better chance to get into my dream school
*What you did/are doing to get that goal:memorize all GRE words and finish all the SAT prep book I could find. blue book, barron’s, online course, Kaplan, QAS, PSAT test
*How you’re going to get it: do two test a day(skip math section, which I’ve already got perfect score)
*An SAT tip based on CR, M, W, essay.: essay can be prepared before hand, just memorize some examples
*Fun fact: I have to travel 16 hours to take one single SAT test

*2400
*Perfection should always be one’s goal, and I know I have the ability to reach it.
*Not much as of now; I will take one or two more practice tests before the testing date.
*Avoid careless errors and stupid mistakes (yes, there is a difference, at least in my mind).
*Make sure to double-check your answer sheet as well as your work; stupid mistakes can pop up in the most unexpected locales.
*My sixteenth birthday will be eight days after the testing date.

*2400 ideally, but I’m really just aiming for a 2300+
*I have faith that I can do it
*Practice Tests, Practice Tests, and more Practice Tests
*Read every question carefully to avoid stupid mistakes.
*Memorize at least 10-15 essay examples beforehand, and know which generic topics they could fit.
*I really hope this will be the last time I take the SAT! (January will be my 2nd time)

This is my brother’s account (mine is being weird)

*2200 + I’m hoping, I have a 1910 right now which I’m very disappointed with
*To help make my chances to my dream schools higher
*Practice, practice, practice! Can’t seem to improve too much on CR though, which is frustrating me
For the W Section, study basic grammar rules the day before to get them fresh in your head once again. Read the sentences out loud in your head (if that makes sense). That way you can really tell if it sounds wrong or not
*The highest SAT Grade in my school was a 2100. On CC that score seems low…not a fun fact, but I found that funny when I found out :)

*2200
*To get into my dream schools.
*Take at least ten timed practice tests.
*See above.
*Subject-verb agreement is key.
*It’s not the end of the world if I don’t reach my goal.
