i know the other answer to the black hole question was INTERTWINED; was there another choice remoted similar to that, because I do not remember any of the choices

That question was considered very hard?..., I thought the answer was pretty obvious, then again I got a bunch of the easy ones wrong, so I guess i shouldnt talk.

Honest to goodness those words are from ETS. I asked them a question about that specific one and they sent me a formal letter including the question, a very long and helpful explanation, and a photocopy of the test page with the passage and questions. They said that since the test is going to be published soon, they could send me said information.

If yall don't believe me, wait 'till Monday.

Since ETS sent you the test page, could you post the other question on the page? The one mentioned above? Thanks!!

Gxing, heck, I am so not in the mood for studying physics right now I'll type the entire passage.

Black holes are the most efficient engines of destruction known to humanity. Their intense gravity is a one-way ticket to oblivion, and material spiraling into them can heat up to millions of degrees and glow brightly. Yet, they arenot all-powerful. Even supermassive black holes are miniscule by cosmic standards. They typically account for less than one percent of their galaxy's mass. Accordingly, astronomers long assumed that supermassive holes, let alone their smaller cousins, would have little effect beyond their immediate neighborhoods. So it has come as a surprise over the past decade that black hole activity is closely intertwined with star formation occurring farther out in the galaxy.

Which best describes the function of the statement in lines 10-13 ("So it...galaxy")?

A) It summarizes the points made in the first four lines of the passage.
B) It provides support for the argument asserted in the preceding statement.
C) It introduces a new view of information presented earlier in the passage.
D) It challenges recent scientific findings.
E) It offers examples to support a theory.

^I think I put C for this one...

wow you can call in for that kind of stuff?

I said B for the black hole / stars one.. SHOOT. another wrong..

^^^I put C for that one. Aqua, do you think they'd send me a page if I requested a specific one?

In the two questions above, I put A and C, respectively.

I didn't think those two questions were hard though =/ But then again, everytime when I think something is easy I end up messing up really bad on it. =p

Yeah I have to agree if one scores above a 230 on the PSAT, the actual SAT score is very likely lower than the PSAT score. I am definately NOT expecting a 2380. I'd be happy if I could get a 2300 (my projected goal, but in reality I think it's more ~2200ish).

Goldfish, I don't doubt they would, but I think we should just wait three more days for scores to come out. :)

alright :)

do the scores ever come online earlier than they say they will? any chance they will be up this weekend?

If I put a college to receive my scores when I registered for the SAT 1, then when will that college get my scores?

what kind of question is that?

What I mean is when will the SAT scores be sent to the colleges ? The same time I receive the scores?

IvyLeague, I believe so. But if you have a collegeboard account online, you can get your scores earlier and change which colleges they send it to, if any colleges at all. You get scores online Feb 13, and they mail them like a couple weeks later or something.

So the college will get my scores the same day I get them?

ivyleague, I believe so.

No, if you look them up online, you can see them on Feb. 13. Colleges don't get them on Feb. 13--they get them via snail mail, a couple of days after you see them online.

My DD's going to the Johns Hopkins summer program and we're waiting to see if she qualifies in one area (the application deadline is today). JHU told me to call them as soon as the scores are posted on Monday b/c parents and students see the scores before admissions offices.

i was under the impression that the scores are sent online to the college admissions officers, because if scores arrive through snail mail that means that some adcoms have to enter them in manually, and that would take foreover.
