*OFFICIAL* January 28, 2006 SAT Thread

check Columbia's online tracking, you will find they receive the score through "tape" or something like that, so not snail mail at least.

Is the fact that some forms had an experimental section and some only had 9 sections a factor in the scale? Because it seems like the extra section would require more endurance and affect how you do on the end of the test. idk.

Does anyone remember the other choices from the CR question that had "acrid" in it?

CMD220, everyone has an experimental section...

pike, the Collegeboard website says there was a black and white cover test form with 9 sections and a pink cover version with 10. The section labeled equating is listed in the pink but not the black and white... am I reading it wrong?

<a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/scores/understanding/equating.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/sat/scores/understanding/equating.html</a></p>

From the link above:
Every SAT test includes a 25-minute equating section, which doesn't count toward your final score. The test is created so that you won't be able to tell which section this is, and it will be either a critical reading, math, or multiple-choice writing section.

Since many different forms of the SAT are given each year, the unscored section adjusts for minor differences in difficulty across different forms of the SAT and makes sure that a score of, say 560, represents the same level of ability regardless of what form of the test you take. So, equating is another important part of making the SAT a "standardized" test.

No, it looks like you're right. The pink sections, according to the website, only have 9 sections. Hmm. Wierd.

Could the ones without it be SATs for internationals? Since many won't know English as a first language, it could affect it if its a writing or CR section.

there are plenty of international students taking the test in U.S.

well I was thinking it would make it harder not because the section itself was difficult (like it would be a harder part for foreign students) but because it's just draining to have an extra 20-25 mins.
I know I was losing focus by the end.
From pike's post it seems like maybe they do that because the pink section is easier so they add a part that doesn't count to wear you out? So there wasn't an experimental part in everyone's.

True, they are given to those people with extended time. Instead of 4 hours, they take the SAT for 6 hours. Obviously, they can't take the experimental section.

The pink sections are the exact tests you guys took: same questions, same difficulty, and same curve. But it doesn't include an experimental section.
