Official June 10th ACT Discussion

Math was super easy.....English was easy
Reading KILLED ME
SCIENCE WA O.K

what did everyone get for the last math question? I got E it was about a square

yeah, math and english were the easiest, I got the repeating decimal answer for the last one though- that was one I wasn't sure about.

Reading wasn't bad, but I ran a little short on time

And gahhh, science just killed me. Not that it was overly difficult, but I guess I wasn't working fast enough, I ended up filling in random bubbles for the last 5-6 questions =(

And my essay was about 3 pgs.. I liked the prompt

Shhh...the people on the west coast aren't done testing yet.........

Yeah, the answer was like 200 or something like that. The others weren't even remotely possible.

yeah, definitely 200.

Stupid answer choices...I wish that were a grid-in somehow so that it would be harder. =D

English was pretty good but I though a little harder than usual not to say that it wasn't easy...math super easy...reading easy as well...science was fairly easy sort of average

@Edwardz: That's why I like the ACT. :)

just got back....

what was the question about the 3 dimensional cube or whatever, and the coordinates of point B? was it answer choice c?

the one about the 4 distinct random points in a circle, and they all connect in pairs, how many regions? i put 4....

was it froze? or frozen? in english

for the cube, it was (0,2,2)
for the four distinct points, it was 8

how is it 200? i put 400/3, but then again, i was pressed for time...

The 1st reading passage was BS...what happened in it?

Enlgish was slightly hard
Science was easy
Math slightly harder
Reading good except for 1st passage

Wat was the answe to the question with the 3.75pi? into degree?

I put 400/3..blind guess though

I got 200. The area is always 1/2 of the original. So, it is like 100+50+25+12.5+7.25..., which limits 200.

They curve should be in our favor....

it is actually 1/4 not 1/2

as you add the areas, it approaches 200
the area is halved each successive time
the first area is 100
just add the first few squares
100 + 50 + 25 + 12.5 + 6.25 + 3.125 = 197
so its clearly 200

I also put 400/3...

if you continue to add it up it just gets closer and closer to 133.3333 which is equivalent to 400/3.

you don't understand.

it was 10^2 + 5^2... and so on.

5^2 is not 50.

Yeah.. you guys made the mistake of thinking the area is divided by four each time. Draw this out and use Pathorian theorm

what about the one with the 2 prime numbers and the question after it with the circle and the answer choices being circle, line, point....

i thought that the reading for the first passage was easy....

the one about radian changing to degrees, you just multiply by the conversion factor 180 degrees/pie

was it froze or frozen? in english

It's not divided by four.

The length of one side of the square is halfed each time. To find the area you then square the length of that side.

10^2 is the area of the first one

plus 5^2 to find the area for the next. (5 is one half of 10.)

then 2.5^2 for the next area.

it is the Sum of that, and the sum approaches 400/3.
