Official June 10th ACT Discussion

dfriedm1- i think i put something similar to prosperity too, though i'm not sure if that is the word it uses

really? bc i put something about insects' migration habits or w/e

I put uncertain, and the "sense of propriety" one.

i think i put hesitant, then happy for the chance to help the Community

i said the butterfly's behavior was unusual for insects

i may have put that also, i remember the answer had unusual and insects

1)WHERE Did you put the thing about the Irish Potato Famine?

2) If you removed "Network" (in English), what would you remove?

1) I said it should have remained where it was, because it said, "Maintain such homogenous genetics can cause problems, such as it did in Ireland during the famine. The Irish potato famine is one example where ungenetic diversification led to problems."

1- where it was

2- it would lose a sense of connection between the planters

1) up one sentence I think....

i put it to be the second to last sentence, and then have the "Because.." sentence afterwards

IHATESAT has the two sentences switched around lol because I'm 100% sure that the example came first before the explanation in the context of that sentence.

Was the answer "after sentence two?"

i was pretty sure it was "where it was"

C-Jones, I got a 23 English last time, what did u get?

Do you guys think the curve will be good this time because i have taken 3 of these ACT's and this one definutly seemed like the hardest. I got a 32 on my first one, 33 on my second, so im hoping 4 higher this time

agree?

i got a 35, but i might have done something stupid on that potato famine question

Did u need a comma after but?

i was wondering about that one too

i put that it did need a comma because i saw a question on a practice ACT where there was no change of subject, but it still required a comma, but i'm not positive whether or not this problem required a comma

i think the sentence (x) is definitely one sentence up:

x said the potato famine of the 1880's was an example of how certain plants can get wiped out due to homogenity (or somehting along those lines). this would be fine had it not been that that the sentence that originally is the one preceding it started with "Because," and talked about how one certain something other wiped out the whole crop.

if sentence x remains where it is, the "Because" is really out of place in the passage with nothing to allude to (as the potato famine wouldn't have been mentioned yet)
