i think a comma is necessary for the waiter.

the "from her friends" one ignores that fact that she was influenced by her peers or something, idr the wording, but it was something like that.

can anyone actually say whether they know if a comma was needed or not?

Did anyone's cell go off in your testing room. A girl's phone rang while we were testing and she had to leave. I felt so sorry for her. All that preparation wasted. If that happened to me I probably would have cried.

comma not needed.

it only wouldve been needed if there was another comma after the end of the phrase (there wasnt). ex: the confident, but small, waiter.

haha "all the preparation"....I don't think many prepare for ACT.

Was the answer to that cube in the x-y-z coordinate plane 2-0-2?

for the latin music passage:

I agree with ______ and loyal, & _______and accessible for those 2

i also got accepting (how the parents felt about the kids music music)

and that it was about kdis who instead of jsut accepting their culture's music, learned to identify with it (in answer to the question about how did the passage develop as a whole)

the boy passed the concert jumping up and down = he experienced

and that it was a grown man reflecting on his youth or something

for math:

i got 7 (or C) for the 2nd to last one because it came out to 21x - 14 when you subtracted fx from gx & i got 2 for the prime number question.

i got 0,2,2 for xyz cube

anyone remember the letter choice for the last question? because i didnt get to it and geussed B (or G) lol

oh and i got that DJDJ thing too.

i think it was the night one for the reading, not the wind

a comma is used if you have a conjunction and an independent clause (complete sentence) following the conjunction

i.e.

Sally played softball, but she was also a talented swimmer.

In the case of the waiter, the comma was not necessary because there was not an independent clause after "but"

0-2-2 for cube i believe.

The last letter choice for math was E or K, 200.

Does anyone remember any other math questions?

i think the f(x) g(x) one was 2 maybe? y is it 7?

I thought the "her friends influenced her" was necessary and w/o it you'd lose part of the point she was trying to make (which was that her friends and people here in general were making her more Americanized). Now that I look back on it, I'm not so sure though. :-/

The answer to the last question on the math was 200.

Quick verification:

Say that the side of a square was x,

Then the length of a side of an insribed square must be: sqrt (x/2)^2 + (x/2)^2

Draw it out to confirm that. After you do the algebra, you find that one side is x/(sqrt 2). Square that to find the area, which is (x^2)/2

Since the area of the original square is x^2, then it can be seen that the inscribed square's area is always 1/2 that of the original area.

Ok, so this is asking you to find the sum of an infinite geometric series.

Use the formula a1/(1-r) to find it. a1 is 100 because that's the area of the original square, and r is 1/2 because this is the ratio of the inscribed square to the orignial square. 100/1-.5 = 100/.5, otherwise known as 200.

it was 7 because if you solved out the equations you wouldve gotten 21x+14 and 7 was the only number divisible

Why is it 2?..pretty sure it's seven.

What about the circle with radius 8 and 4 cm chords one? Is it a line, line segment, point, circle, semicircle?

also, does y=2x-2 sound familar for the one where it gives you a slope and the function? anyone take the derivitative?

Ugh, getting on here worries me, shouldn't have gotten on. I was confident, now I'm almost sure I got less than 30.

was I the only one or did anyone else find the prose fiction (first passage) fairly difficult?

senator noodles i put that too and i think it's definitely right

ziggy the mid points of the chordes made a circle

i also found it very difficult. didn't really know what she was trying to say in the middle of it, like when she said its best to write when everyone else is dead.
