Official Kenyon Class of 2010

;) Let me start the thread first before QuakerOaties starts it!

To Kenyon Class of 2010, please post here... perhaps we can know more about each other so that I wouldnt be soooo lost when I first stepped onto the soils of the United States and into Gambier, OHIO!!! Really looking forward to next fall!!!

Beat me to it! Ok so my names Mark and I hail from the suburbs of Philadelphia. I'm very excited to be going to a school thats so beautiful, amazing, and just... yeah. I can't believe it.

I'm really excited for snowfall in Gambier because there is a WICKED sledding hill by the theater! Anyone up for some sledding? Oh, and Cedar Point trips!!!!

Yaowin, you're going to have an amazing time. The States are pretty cool! I'm so glad you got in.

I'll post a more detailed post when I'm calmed down.

Hey, my first name is Yaowen ;) I am from Malaysia and I am really proud to be the first in my family to be associated with Kenyon. I am really hyped about Freshmen sing at Kenyon... I was told that the seniors will throw papers/boo/jeer at you while you are singing so as to distract you from finishing! Ha, that's amazing! :) And yes Oats.. from your description of Cedar Point... ha, I really wished I can be there RIGHT NOW!!!

congratulations guys...You all remind me of how I was when I got my decision....This place is above the average...Come with huge expectations, they all will be met!!

Serious blip??? haha, no worries.. I will, definitely!!!

Congratulations! I look forward to meeting you next year! Let me know if there is anything I can do to help pave your transition to Kenyon.

(and THE sledding hill is the big hill at the BFEC... sleds are included too)

Thanks kc_lady and hopefully... you can retire from CC then... haha and there will be oaties, me and other 2010 people to take over your role on this board, i.e. to answer questions from prospective students! =)

hey kc_lady this is not fair! we have been here for a semester already and yet not met and you are already promising to meet these newcomers? (no offense)
sleeding, and snow for that matter, is all over the place guys, just you wait...
blip, where are you man?

Yeah, I'll be a senior next year, so I'll retire soon...

(you can PM me and I'll reveal my true ID)

Hey... I read somewhere that there are a lot of Amish in Kenyon's community... How is it like to live in an Amish community?

I am Mike. I live in Jersey.

Passionate about writing. I have big aspirations, I know Kenyon will help me achieve them. I fell in love with the school during sophomore year. This is a dream come true for me. They gave me a phenomonal financial aid package so I can afford it.

To MotherofTwo, who knows me and my Kenyon saga since last year, I made it! I will hope to meet your daughter next year!

Carolyn, thank you for the help with my essay and the good vibes you sent me!

Dream. Come. True.

I am floating.

Hi!!! Can we please go sledding and to Cedar Point?!? I am soo excited and when I was visiting I actually asked about sledding and am just so happy that someone else wants to go. well, congratulations!

Woohoo AHarris!!! Nice to meet you ;) Seriously guys... I have no ideas how does snow feels like, not even to say how's sledding like!! =) I have been living in a tropical country for all my life. So it's kind of exciting to go to a country that has four seasons. I've read a book that there's lots of potatoes at Idaho?? :>

Congratulations AHarris! Sun Valley, wow. I've wanted to go there for quite some time.

Never been sledding? You're in for a good time.

Hi! You should definitely come to Sun Valley...it would be such a blast!

Also, I can't believe you have never been sledding! We will make sure you have a great time in the snow...YAY.

I also just got accepted to the class of 2010! Congrats to you guys!Do you know how many people out of our class will get accepted ED?

I think approximately 40% of the class is accepted early decision. At least, thats what the Kenyon website leads me to believe.

Happy Holidays everyone!!! So...what is everyone interested in studying and what sort of things do you all like to do (hobbies and just for fun)?? I think I am going to study sciences and foreign language but I really don't know because I also want to major in English. As for fun, I just love to laugh. Basically my friends and I can make every moment fun and we just laugh together, generally I don't even know what about, but it's all good. We tend to go swimming, sledding or biking. My main focus is swimming. I plan to swim at Kenyon too and I am super excited. Well that is a little about me and I would love to know more about all of you guys. Well I hope you all have great holiday!

Hey, I know we talked last night but I think this is a good opportunity for me to share my interests and hobbies.

I like to write, as I mentioned before. But I write science fiction, fantasy, myth, and horror. I also would like to focus on GLBT issues in my writing. I love art. Some of my favorites are Max Ernst, Anselm Kiefer, Picasso, and Frida Kahlo. I volunteer for hospice - doing my senior project on the role spirituality plays in the end-of-life experience. Volunteer for ACLU and GLAAD, I am taking my school's GSA to the GLAAD Media Awards in New York City. So excited!

My plans for college: I plan to major in English, and minor in both Classics and Religion. I am contemplating a career in the movie industry so I will pursue things in the Film Society and Ascension Films. I will hone my craft in fiction writing, of course. I will dabble and explore in different things at Kenyon. But my studies will come first and foremost.

And friends. Lots and lots of friends!

Merry Xmas Eve! I plan to study International Relations and maybe Spanish as well. The KILM program seems awsome, but maybe a little too intense. I am also interested in studying law but Kenyon doesnt have a pre- law program. I play tennis now and i hope to play at Kenyon too.
