coco2: I think it will take a while cause for us, they emailed our decisions to us! Good Luck!!!

Somehow, it just feels weird to be a new member again...

I went home, with a feeling that I will be finding out today. I look in my mailbox, and I find the envelope with a big ol' Thumbs Up! sign on it. I grabbed it, along with the rest of my mail, and ran to school - with my pants almost ready to fall down in the process. I called my best friend who is a sophomore at Kenyon. I called my mom. She asked me how much financial aid I got. It's almost full ride.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc:
My wildest dreams just came true. I am literally floating. Happiest day of my life, bar none.

Congrats White Materia on your acceptance to Kenyon! Just to ask you... how much of your fin aid package composed of the loan component? Mine is USD 3000... and I was wondering whether your financial aid component does change considerably like when you are in sophormore, junior and senior... Can someone please help? Thanks!

The loan component was considerably small, around 2000 USD.

To continue receiving financial aid at Kenyon, you must submit the FAFSA every year. I'm sure if the household income stays the same, your family contribution amount should stay the same.

But if it will change considerably... No idea, I do not believe so. They are need sensitive, they won't be admitting anyone with taking finances into account, considering they do not want to bankrupt the school.

erm, as in will my loan increase in junior or senior year?

That... I do not know.

:P

it depends on what kind of loan it is. I had stafford loan my freshman year somewhere around 3000 or in that area and as you rise through the classes the federal government is allowed to increase the loan and Kenyon lowers your financial aid a by the same amount. I think thats how it went for me but I havent checked my financial stuff since August. Dont worry it wasnt too much of an increase, maybe a thousand from freshman to sophomore year.

My loan is issued by Kenyon College... so do you have any ideas? blip? chochu444? =) thanks!

well, both of us are still freshman (but it feels like we've been here for years!) but from what I have heard, the loan only increases by a very small amount like maybe 500 $ a yr or sth like that so I wouldnt worry about that. The college definitely doesnt plan to screw you after you get enrolled so things should work out fine.
Go party and have fun: forget about the loan thing. I have a 4000 loan but I am not really worried about it. Besides, I dont think I can do anything about it even if I worried so you should take it easy. Things will work out. Kenyon is good about things.
Have fun!
