Official List: Accepted Off of the Penn Waitlist, Class of 2013

^ "The fact remains that we DID get in and you didnt. " and what are you trying to say by that son of a ? The whole discussions was not about who got in and who did not and who is still waiting. It was about people trying to shut me up and not spoil their idyllic situation. I said it once and I will say it again, if you do not like people complaining on this forum, even if it does not change anything, offf. You do not have to read it, this is not a site for accepted students only. Go to Upenn website and I am sure they have something there for you to kill time. Leave us alone !

Calm down all.
Stanford. I totally understand your frustration. I got waitlisted by three schools including Penn (all were my top choices). And I have to say that keeping the anxious students waiting is just the nature of the waitlist admission process. I haven’t heard from all three of them in last two months unless I called or e-mailed them first. (Last thursday, one school finally sent me the rejection note.) Anyway, all I want to say is just relax. Fighting with some anonymous CCers would not change the situation a bit.

Nobody would say that you are inferior to or less deserving than admitted students.
If you don’t get in, then you’re just not the student PENN is looking for.
You’ll be fine in another school, maybe happier.
If not, you can always try to transfer. Just try to be positive.

And admitted students, I just think that it’d be better for all of us if you stay out of all this. I haven’t posted tons of complaints on this thread, but I think one can share his/her frustration in times like this. Maybe you find those complaints irritating, but saying it out loud makes me feel like you guys are mocking at me.
It’s just not really nice.
You guys just can say “good luck to all, I really hope you get in.” and move on with your life. You guys are already accepted and I have to admit that I’m really jealous of you. But even so, I don’t understand why you guys want to emphisize the fact that you guys get in the school we waitlistees don’t.
We already know. That’s the reason of our frustration.

i think keb said it best. but i would like to throw my support behind stanford09

isn’t this thread here so that we waitlistees can vent? being waitlisted is a very trying process. those who are accepted already shouldn’t tell us to just “deal with it.” right now we’re in a limbo state. we can’t move on and deal with it because we haven’t been rejected/accepted yet.

stanford09: i totally get it. i worked my butt off in high school and i’m sure im better than lots of people who got it, but the whole process can really be corrupt. nothing is worse than feeling like you didnt get what you deserved. i definitely feel like i’ve been cheated out of my spot. but who knows? maybe i’m totally wrong and i didnt deserve to get in. either way its a depressing situation and we have every right to be anxious, upset, and frustrated.

^i second boles. a few more weeks and we’ll know…

I got in. 4:43 pm glenside pennsylvania. Oh my god.

i got rejected…here’s the email

Dear bicyclekick,

I regret to tell you that you are being discontinued from our Waiting List. We
had kept a relatively small number of students like yourself for whom we hoped
spaces would open. It is now clear that we will not be able to offer you a
place this fall.

Your updated decision status can be viewed by going to:
https://www.admissions.upenn.edu/decisions/mydecision.php</a>

If for any reason you are unable to access the Decision website, please contact
eapps@admissions.upenn.edu for assistance.

You were an applicant in whom our Selection Committee found much to like and I
am confident that you have opportunities at other excellent schools. There were
quite simply too many well-qualified students competing for a place in our class
this year.

Thank you for your interest in Penn and you have my best wishes for continued
success.

Sincerely,

Eric J. Furda
Dean of Admissions
University of Pennsylvania

^ Congratulations Boles. I just received my answer too and sadly I did not get in. Here is the letter:

"I regret to tell you that you are being discontinued from our Waiting List. We had kept a relatively small number of students like yourself for whom we hoped spaces would open. It is now clear that we will not be able to offer you a place this fall.

You were an applicant in whom our Selection Committee found much to like and I am confident that you have opportunities at other excellent schools. There were quite simply too many well-qualified students competing for a place in our freshman class this year.

Thank you for your interest in Penn and you have my best wishes for continued success. "

I feel so miserable right now, you can not even imagine.

Bicyclekick and everyone else who got rejected Good Luck wherever you are going. You can always tranfer. It has been a long and exhausting road and sadly it has come to a pretty bad end. Dont give up, I will probably try to transfer too.

stanford09: i know i cant make you feel better and your sick of hearing that its going to be okay, but i know youre going to be okay. i really really am sorry. hopefully the sadness will fade soon, like it did for me when i didnt get off at columbia or harvard and got flat out rejected at yale. for what its worth…i really wish you luck next year and i hope you feel better soon.

I got my email too, only mines a little different,
"Dear Nicholas,

On behalf of the Admissions Office, thank you for your continued interest in the University of Pennsylvania. Although our class for this fall is now full, it is possible that a few spots will become available during the summer. We are inviting a small number of students, including you, to remain active on the Waiting List. I realize that this opportunity prolongs the uncertainty of your plans for the fall. However, we want to give you every opportunity to be considered for a seat in the Class of 2013.

If you remain interested in Penn, please email Angela Sweeney before Friday, June 12, at angelas@admissions.upenn.edu and indicate your desire to continue as an active candidate. We expect to know whether we will extend any additional offers of admission by the end of June.

Again, we appreciate your keen interest in Penn and will be in touch with you as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Eric J. Furda
Dean of Admissions
University of Pennsylvania"

So im on the extended waitlist! Which is bitter sweet because yay I still have a chance and theres a smaller pool! But boo I still dont know where im going. Anyone else get this news? I wonder how many are like me?

I got released too. But I can’t complain, since I didn’t send in a letter of continued interest. That wasn’t really smart on my part.

^ I don’t think that matters…I did it for columbia and it didn’t help me lol

^ uuggh, Columbia be damned, I spent so much time on that particular school, more than any other that I applied to. I look back at this entire year and in what pressure I lived under and I ask myself, why? I feel worthless.

boles,

Congrats.

Rejected - ah well…

I got rejected off the waitlist, too.
Congrats to all accepted/continued!
I probably should have sent in a letter of interest, but I didn’t really need to since I’m completely set on where I’m going.

It’s the first rejection that didn’t sting, and it feels good haha.

no email…

T_________T
what is this travesty… ooh have a heart penn admissions and sent an email.

Rejected. Ah well, there’s always transfer.

i got rejected to. good luck to everyone at which ever school they end up at

I was also rejected, but there is one thing I have been pondering over: Couldn’t they have used a nicer/better word than “discontinued” that implied a similar meaning?
