So, I have decided today to attend Swarthmore College this fall. Who else will be joining me? Also, I'd like to know more about my future classmates, so put a little blurb about yourself!

NAME: Ben
HOME STATE: Vermont
AIM: benzo415
ACADEMIC INTERESTS: Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Linguistics, Math, Spanish
OTHER INTERESTS: watching sports on TV, playing sports esp. tennis, running, quiz bowl, newspaper writing, classic rock, jazz, good movies, the internet, eating, reading, spending quality time with friends... and many more!
WHY SWARTHMORE: Let's just say that Ride the Tide sealed the deal. I was ready to place my deposit down at UMich until I experienced Swarthmore and realized it was the place for me.

Check. I can put you in touch with a couple of Swatties who never miss a Patriots game when they are televised in Phila.

D has a Boston Swattie friend who wouldn't go home for Spring Break, but she flew home for the Red Sox home opener at Fenway!

Big at Swarthmore.

Everyone in my D's dorm brings music to share. Lots of Dylan, Simon/Garfunkel, Beatles going around this fall. She came home for fall break and raided my CD collection.

Rent "The Graduate" this summer. It's a Swarthmore tradition to watch it the first week of school and everyone recites the lines in unison -- particularly any line where Benjamin complains about not knowing what to do with his life....

interesteddad- I've seen The Graduate three times now, love that movie! By the way, I'm an Eagles fan born and bred (grew up near Philly), so that puts me at odds with the Pats fans, but put me in touch anyway!

Nothin' wrong with being an Iggles fan. Gotta give props to any fans who boo Santa Claus. You'll be right at home at Swat, where a lot of the campus roots for da Iggles.

I tried to get my daughter to switch allegiance to da Iggles for the SuperBowl, just to make it more fun. But, she's too smart for that, "No way, Dad. McNabb's gonna get the dry-heaves and choke in the fourth quarter, I'm stickin' with the Pats."

College_Hopeful, my son and I visited UMich as well (when he was deferred from Columbia and waiting for April 1). He loved Ann Arbor and liked UMich as well.

But he had the same reaction on visiting Swarthmore, and it wasn't even for RTT. It sealed the deal.

HOME STATE: Cali!

ACADEMIC INTERESTS: English Literature, Physics, French
OTHER INTERESTS: hanging out with my dog, reading, using the computer, making websites, traveling
WHY SWARTHMORE: students are actually ENGAGED in their classes..something nowhere to be found at the other school i was considering--Dartmouth.

Fezeatpez, I loved my Dimensions experience the classes I visited were very heated and the students really ENGAGED in the discussions and lectures. and not just for one class, but for all three I visited; African-American Studies, Government, and Psychology. I think it was seriously the departments you chose.

Yeah, that's what some of the students I talked with said--that the classes I went to weren't typical. But then, I chose the classes I went to at random, and I did the same at Swat. Swat just happened to have better classes, at least for the ones I went to.

I can't go to Dartmouth anyway. It's just TOO hard to get to. Changing planes, taking the bus to Hanover..I just don't want to put up with it, even if I won't come home often. Swat is pretty easy to get to.
