[] volunteer/community service:
[] essays: Common App create your own prompt - depends. I took a risk and went quite in depth in to philosophy, so the adcom would have to decide. I love it though. Thinking back I should have used this one for every common app, since my other common app essay is more appropriate for Mac’s international student question.

Why Macalester: 9/10 A pretty generic “why this small prestigious LAC” essay. I said the same things about a number of schools but hey, that’s why I applied to all of them together! I must have similar reasons!

International supplement: Eh. 8/10. Talked about being a third culture kid and my difficulties adjusting to a single cultural environment.
[] teacher recommendation: AP Lit 10/10 - Awesome AP Euro ?/10 I’m expecting it to be pretty good
[] counselor rec: 10/10

[] interview: Nope[/ul]

[li] hooks (urm, first generation college, research, etc.): Negative[/ul]
[/li]

reflection[ul]
[] strengths: Essays, definitely. My GPA was not in the ballpark, not even at my own school where the accepted GPA was 3.7. Test scores. Recs- I can’t thank my teachers and counselor enough.
[] weaknesses: Well, GPA, some risky essays.
[li] why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think more than many other schools I applied to, this is one I really dared to delve into the depths of my interests and abandoned the fear that adcoms would think I was showing off.[/ul]
[/li]

**general comments: **Since brevity is the soul of wit: YAY.
