OFFICIAL MARCH SAT 1 discussion

Darn! I misread that question. I knew it doubled 8 times too.

I’m pretty sure it asked how many times faster the processor would be, making the answer 256. There were two answers with 8 in it though…the median mean question and the area of the 5-sided polygon.

I recall a sentence saying something like ‘He was known for his rancor and bitterness, so when he was presented with evidence of his misconduct he reacted with _____’. I know that’s not the wording, but thats the logic structure that I got from it. I could be wrong though.
anyone know what the answer was?

the moore’s law question said how many times more processors will there be in 12 years? So the answer is 256.

Anyone remember the question about the Japanese box woman, where it’s asking why the woman was talking to the children? I remember there was a quote in the passage that had to do with one of the answers–that the woman could have easily seen the parents fighting over the box, but she was pretending not to see or something??

anonymous91, i think the answer was “because doctors are armed with…” (it was the one about antibiotics/infections, right?)

rancor: the answer started with “vi”

whats the answer to the problem that was like 2x+3x+4x=5x

i got 0 for that but someone else said it was 9/25

what is it? 0 or 9/25?

For that problem with the paper i got something like 13 1/3

I used that-guy-whose-name-I-can’t-remember’s formula: 2ab/(a+b)
Does that formula work here?

9/25 is the answer its pretty easy

^ 9/25

it was the Square root of (2x + 3x + 4x) = 5x

So thus the Square root of 9x = 5x

yea that was the one i was talking about tritum, i couldn’t decide between being (although i know being is usually wrong) and that one, they both sounded awkward to me. Did you get a no error in the very beginning of writing?

hey for writing what examples did people use for the Loyalty prompt?

i used, in order. Intro- Personal, FIrst body- Ethan Frome, Second body- huck finn, conclusion

WRITING: “Lacking education, the colonists could not sign their names.” … or something to that effect. No error? It was number 3 on section 2.

WRITING: Clara Barton… “allowed congress to pass the bill declaring neutrality of the red cross…” It was in section 10. What was this? “As is,” or was it “declaring neutrality” that was the error or … just… what was it?

WRITING: Last question on section 10 / entire test: salt, empire expanding, etc. It was NOT choice A (as is), was it?

Methionine…

“No error” for me too.

“As is” for me.

I think I put down C (that because of its ability to restore made empires expand or something) because “ability” has to be follow with “to” to be idiomatically correct.

I put no error because colonists/their agree.

I put no error. Declaring neutrality was correct in this case. I dont remember catching as is, so i got it wrong >.<

I picked one which had because. either b or c, dont remember

i swear that question was asking how many times it doubles and i put 8 but that’s ridiculously easy
and every one says the answer is 256 (as in, how mnay times faster) so i don’t know anymore

I’m almost positive 256 is the right answer.

I read fast, when I saw times the image of actually multiplying the number went into my head. 8 does seem rediculously easy but apparently it was correct. sucks because people that put 256 like me get it wrong for college boards poor wording lol. at least gridins dont have an 1/4 incorrect penalty =/

anonymous91, i thought that original one had misplaced modifier. i’m pretty sure, fights against infections are not armed with new antibiotics, but doctors are.

For the 256 question, please do realize that it was the last section of the grid in, which is most likely to be M to H. Realizing how many times it doubled would simply require the division of 18 into 12*12, but realizing that you have to raise 2 to that power would require some more knowledge.
