I thought I'd make this since we don't have one and ACC play is about to start.

That loss to William and Mary > are you kidding me? The Tribe could shoot the 3, though. Maryland played no defense that game.

Good win over UNC Greensboro. Absolutely dominated them. Almost scored 100 points. Defense was great. HUGE improvement over W&M. Milbourne looked good. Greivis was good as always.

Here’s my prediction…if MD should cream the other team, it will be a squeaker. If they are the underdogs, it will be a squeaker. There is something about them, that drives me insane…they seem to take for granted the easy game and make you scream at the TV What The F? Then two days later they play against a team that you know they will lose to, and you sit there gripping a pillow, thinking to yourself, they can do it!

I love Gary for many reasons, but in the end of the day UMD will need to decide if they want to follow his belief that no recruiting will happen until the players’ later yrs of HS. It is admirable that he won’t play that game, but basketball like football is a fiscal aspect.

To me the real question is do they play the “recruiting” game for ACC standings or don’t they? If it is the latter, Gary needs to go and they should find a coach that will take the next Len Bias.

It was pretty good–Hayes and Milbourne put up 17 and 13 points, respectively and Vasquez scored 22 (mostly second half). We were up 41-27 at halftime, they closed to within 5, and then Vasquez took over. We matched them on rebounds, which isn’t bad considering FSU has a 7-footer.

Tough loss tonight. 83-85 in overtime. Milbourne made a stupid play at the end of regulation that put WF on the line with MD up by two. Mosley and Vasquez both had chances to win the game at the end of OT but they both missed their 3’s. I’m liking this freshman Jordan Williams, though. He plays hard. Always seems to get the rebound. Not much of a free throw shooter but that will come with more experience.

We thought briefly of seeing if we could get tickets and drive up to see the game (we’re in Charlotte). Alas, it conflicted with Trivia night, so we had to just watch the scores flash at the bottom of the screen in the bar! We had our priorities! (btw, our team name is always “The Terrifying Terrapins”…one of our good friends is a UMD grad from way back, and our 2 Terps join us any time they are in town!) We came in 2nd…kind of like the basketball team, I guess! I am hoping that UMD can put on a respectable show in the ACC going forward.

I agree, a very complete game by the Terps. A little sloppy on the boards, but great work by Tucker and Bowie off the bench, and a solid game by Vasquez on his birthday.

106-55 win over Longwood today. Sean Mosley went 8 for 8 from the floor with 21 points. He also made all 4 free throws he attempted. It was only the 11th time in Maryland history that a player made all his shots with at least 8 attempts. Jordan Williams had a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. I can’t wait to see how he performs against UNC, Duke, etc.

Longwood?? Hopefully UNC keeps playing the way they have been…that would be good for UMD. I’m thinking that Duke is going to be a really tough one.

i watched the game against nc state and maryland was just better. im a huge sports fan and my parents and i have had…discussions that im not going to college to watch football and bball but thats a major thing to me. how are the football games? i know they wont be as crazy as the south carolina (team i have grown up watching) and SEC games i have been to but tell me how much are the students and fans in it at fball games. what about bball? what are the games like? and what schools are marylands big rivals?

In other ACC news, UNC dropped out of the top 25 in both the AP poll and ESPN’s rankings. Maryland got more votes than UNC in both polls (22-0), (6-1). Can’t wait for the games against Miami tomorrow and Clemson on Sunday.
